Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.

For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.

For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.

For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish. For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.

Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom.

Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.

Yea, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter. Come ye, say they, I will fetch wine, and we will fill ourselves with strong drink; and to morrow shall be as this day, and much more abundant.

And it come to pass, when he heareth the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of mine heart, to add drunkenness to thirst:

From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Howbeit he would not hearken unto her voice: but, being stronger than she, forced her, and lay with her.

I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved works, with fine linen of Egypt. I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon. Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves.

Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?read more.
So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.

For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life.

For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags.

And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

Incline my heart unto thy testimonies, and not to covetousness.

As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:

That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:

Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom.

And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.

And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.

But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in thy land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother: But thou shalt open thine hand wide unto him, and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wanteth.
