13 Bible Verses about Swearing Oaths

Now above all, my brothers, do not swear either by heaven or by earth or by any other oath, but let your yes be yes and your no, no, in order that you may not fall under judgment.

[If] a man sins against his neighbor and he pronounces an oath against him to curse him, and the curse comes before your altar in this house,

For people swear by what is greater [than themselves], and the oath for confirmation [is the] end of all dispute for them.

And he called it Sheba. Therefore the name of the city [is] Beersheba unto this day.

And Abraham said to his servant, the oldest of his house, who had charge of all he had, "Please put your hand under my thigh that I may make you swear by Yahweh, the God of heaven and the God of earth, that you will not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites in whose midst I am dwelling,

Then the servant put his hand under the thigh of Abraham his master, and he swore to him concerning this matter.

In his eyes a rejected one [is] contemptible, but he honors those who respect Yahweh. He takes an oath to [his own] injury and does not retract it.

the oath of Yahweh will be between the two of them [concerning] whether or not he has reached out his hand to his neighbor's possession, and its owner will accept [this], and he will not make restitution.

I have sworn by myself; a word that shall not return has gone forth from my mouth [in] righteousness: 'Every knee shall kneel down to me; every tongue shall swear.'

Keep [the] command of [the] king {because of your oath to God}.

And [although] the king was distressed, because of his oaths and his {dinner guests} he commanded [the request] to be granted.
