The time is coming, proclaims Jehovah, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. It will not be like the promise that I made to their ancestors when I took them by the hand and brought them out of Egypt. They rejected that promise, although I was a husband to them, says Jehovah. If there had been nothing wrong with the first covenant, there would not have been a need for a second one.
