'Cause' in the Bible
If I have rewarded evil to my friend,Or have plundered him who without cause was my adversary,
For You have maintained my just cause;You have sat on the throne judging righteously.
To vindicate the orphan and the oppressed,So that man who is of the earth will no longer cause terror.
A Prayer of David.Hear a just cause, O Lord, give heed to my cry;Give ear to my prayer, which is not from deceitful lips.
Indeed, none of those who wait for You will be ashamed;Those who deal treacherously without cause will be ashamed.
For without cause they hid their net for me;Without cause they dug a pit for my soul.
Do not let those who are wrongfully my enemies rejoice over me;Nor let those who hate me without cause wink maliciously.

And in Your majesty ride on victoriously,For the cause of truth and meekness and righteousness;Let Your right hand teach You awesome things.

You visit the earth and cause it to overflow;You greatly enrich it;The stream of God is full of water;You prepare their grain, for thus You prepare the earth.

Those who hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head;Those who would destroy me are powerful, being wrongfully my enemies;What I did not steal, I then have to restore.
Arise, O God, and plead Your own cause;Remember how the foolish man reproaches You all day long.
You caused judgment to be heard from heaven;The earth feared and was still

They have also surrounded me with words of hatred,And fought against me without cause.
