'Content' in the Bible
All this monotony is tiresome; no one can bear to describe it: The eye is never satisfied with seeing, nor is the ear ever content with hearing.
There is a person without a companion, without even a son or brother, and though there is no end to all his struggles, his eyes are still not content with riches. “So who am I struggling for,” he asks, “and depriving myself from good?” This too is futile and a miserable task.
Whoever loves money will never have enough money. Whoever loves luxury will not be content with abundance. This also is pointless.
Furthermore, though they never saw the sun nor learned anything, they are more content than the other.
It is better to be content with what the eyes can see than for one's heart always to crave more. This continual longing is futile -- like chasing the wind.
