'Discipline' in the Bible
"But if after these things you will not obey Me, I will proceed to discipline you seven times for your sins.
"If in spite of these things you do not accept My discipline, but act with hostility toward Me,
I will act with furious hostility toward you; I will also discipline you seven times for your sins.
"Out of the heavens He let you hear His voice to discipline you; and on earth He let you see His great fire, and you heard His words from the midst of the fire.
You must understand today that it is not your children who experienced or saw the discipline of the Lord your God: His greatness, strong hand, and outstretched arm;
"If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who does not obey his father or mother and doesn't listen to them even after they discipline him,
Then the elders of that city shall take the man, and they shall discipline him.
I will be a father to him, and he will be a son to Me. When he does wrong, I will discipline him with a human rod and with blows from others.
Although my father burdened you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke; my father disciplined you with whips, but I will discipline you with barbed whips.' "
and spoke to them according to the young men's advice: "My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to your yoke; my father disciplined you with whips, but I will discipline you with barbed whips."
'Whereas my father loaded you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke; my father disciplined you with whips, but I will discipline you with scorpions.'"
He spoke to them according to the advice of the young men, saying, "My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to it; my father disciplined you with whips, but I will discipline you with scorpions."
See how happy the man is God corrects; so do not reject the discipline of the Almighty.
I hear discipline that insults me, and a spirit beyond my understanding answers me.
He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity.
But the godless and profane in heart heap up anger [at the divine discipline]; they do not cry to Him when He binds them [with cords of affliction].
whether for discipline on his land or to demonstrate his gracious love, he causes it to be realized."
Lord, do not rebuke me in Your anger; do not discipline me in Your wrath.
Lord, do not punish me in Your anger or discipline me in Your wrath.
You discipline a man with punishment for sin, consuming like a moth what is precious to him; every man is a mere vapor. Selah
"For you hate discipline, And you cast My words behind you.
For they harass the one whom you discipline; they spread the news about the suffering of those whom you punish.
The One who instructs nations, the One who teaches man knowledge- does He not discipline?
Lord, happy is the man You discipline and teach from Your law
to discipline his rulers at will and make his elders wise.
The LORD will discipline me severely, but he won't hand me over to die.
These proverbs are for gaining wisdom and discipline; for understanding words of insight;
for acquiring the discipline that produces wise behavior, righteousness, justice, and upright living;
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.
If you turn to my discipline, then I will pour out my spirit on you and teach you my words.

But they are altogether stupid and foolish In their discipline of delusion--their idol is wood!
Discipline me, Lord, but with justice- not in Your anger, or You will reduce me to nothing.
They wouldn't listen or pay attention but became obstinate, not listening or accepting discipline.

I will bring destruction on all the nations where I have scattered you; however, I will not bring destruction on you. I will discipline you justly, but I will by no means leave you unpunished.
All your lovers have forgotten you; they no longer look for you, for I have struck you like an enemy would, with the discipline of someone cruel, because of your enormous guilt and your innumerable sins.
They have turned their backs to Me and not their faces. Though I taught them time and time again, they do not listen and receive discipline.

It is good when a young man carries the yoke of discipline in his youth.
Why does a living man sigh [one who is still in this life's school of discipline]? [And why does] a man complain for the punishment of his sins?
Those who revolt are knee-deep in slaughter, but I will discipline them all.
As they are going, I will spread My net over them; I will bring them down like birds of the sky. I will discipline them in accordance with the news that reaches their assembly.

for bodily discipline is only of little profit, but godliness is profitable for all things, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.
For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline.

Furthermore, we had natural fathers discipline us, and we respected them. Shouldn't we submit even more to the Father of spirits and live?
No discipline seems enjoyable at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it yields the fruit of peace and righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
As many as I love, I rebuke and discipline. So be committed and repent.
