'Eat' in the Bible
And the scribes of the Pharisees, [when they] saw that he was eating with sinners and tax collectors, began to say to his disciples, "Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?"
how he entered into the house of God in the time of Abiathar the high priest and ate the bread of the presentation, which it is not permitted to eat (except the priests) and also gave [it] to those who were with him?"
And he went home, and the crowd gathered again, so that they were not even able to eat a meal.
And he commanded them strictly that no one should learn of this, and said to give her [something] to eat.
And he said to them, "You yourselves come privately to an isolated place and rest for a short time." For those [who were] coming and going were many, and they did not even have time to eat.
Send them away so that they can go into the surrounding farms and villages [and] purchase something to eat for themselves."
But he answered [and] said to them, "You give them [something] to eat." And they said to him, "Should we go [and] purchase bread for two hundred denarii and give [it] to them to eat?"
(For the Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they wash their hands {ritually}, [thus] holding fast to the traditions of the elders.
And [when they come] from the marketplace, they do not eat unless they wash. And there are many other [traditions] which they have received [and] hold fast to--[for example,] the washing of cups and pitchers and bronze kettles and dining couches.)
And the Pharisees and the scribes asked him, "Why do your disciples not live according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with unclean hands?"
But she answered and said to him, "Lord, even the dogs under the table eat the children's crumbs."
In those days there was again a large crowd, and they did not have anything they could eat. Summoning the disciples, he said to them,
"I have compassion on the crowd, because they have remained with me three days already and do not have anything to eat.
And he responded [and] said to it, "Let no one eat fruit from you any more {forever}!" And his disciples heard [it].
And on the first day of the feast of Unleavened Bread, when they sacrificed the Passover lamb, his disciples said to him, "Where do you want us to go [and] prepare, so that you can eat the Passover?"
and wherever he enters, say to the master of the house, 'The Teacher says, "Where is my guest room where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?" '
