'Going' in the Bible

On the third day two people were going to be married at Cana in Galilee. The mother of Jesus was there:

The Jewish leaders said, "This sanctuary has been under construction for 46 years, and you're going to rebuild it in three days?"

so they went to John and told him, "Rabbi, the man who was with you on the other side of the Jordan, the one about whom you testified look, he's baptizing, and everyone is going to him!"

The woman told him, "Sir, you don't have a bucket, and the well is deep. Where are you going to get this living water?

Jesus saith to him, 'Be going on; thy son doth live.' And the man believed the word that Jesus said to him, and was going on,

And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth.

for a messenger at a set time was going down in the pool, and was troubling the water, the first then having gone in after the troubling of the water, became whole of whatever sickness he was held.

He asked this to test him, for He Himself knew what He was going to do.

Jesus therefore knowing that they were going to come and seize him, that they might make him king, departed again to the mountain himself alone.

and having entered into the boat, they were going over the sea to Capernaum, and darkness had already come, and Jesus had not come unto them,

So they were glad to take him on board, and immediately the boat reached the land toward which they were going.

"What sign then are You going to do so we may see and believe You?" they asked. "What are You going to perform?

What if you saw the Son of Man going up to the place where he was before?

He was referring to Judas, Simon Iscariot's son, one of the Twelve, because he was going to betray Him.

And after these [things] Jesus was going about in Galilee. For he did not want to go about in Judea, because the Jews were seeking to kill him.

since no one acts in secret if he wants to be known publicly. If you're going to do these things, you should reveal yourself to the world!"

Go up to the festival yourselves. I'm not going up to the festival yet, because My time has not yet fully come."

Then the Jewish leaders asked one another, "Where does this man intend to go that we won't be able to find him? Surely he's not going to the Dispersion among the Greeks and teach the Greeks, is he?

He said this about the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were going to receive, for the Spirit had not yet been received, because Jesus had not yet been glorified.

Others were saying, "This is the Christ." Still others were saying, "Surely the Christ is not going to come from Galilee, is He?

and they having heard, and by the conscience being convicted, were going forth one by one, having begun from the elders -- unto the last; and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.

and she said, 'No one, Sir;' and Jesus said to her, 'Neither do I pass sentence on thee; be going on, and no more sin.'

"Even if I testify about Myself," Jesus replied, "My testimony is valid, because I know where I came from and where I'm going. But you don't know where I come from or where I'm going.

So the Jews said again, "He won't kill Himself, will He, since He says, 'Where I'm going, you cannot come' ?"

Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

'Verily, verily, I say to you, He who is not entering through the door to the fold of the sheep, but is going up from another side, that one is a thief and a robber;

Then the Jews surrounded Him and asked, "How long are You going to keep us in suspense? If You are the Messiah, tell us plainly."

Jesus replied to them, "I've shown you many good actions from my Father. For which of them are you going to stone me?"

The Jewish leaders answered him, "We are not going to stone you for a good action, but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, are making yourself God!"

"Rabbi," the disciples told Him, "just now the Jews tried to stone You, and You're going there again?"

After he said this, he added, "Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep. But I am going there to awaken him."

The Jews who were with her in the house consoling her saw that Mary got up quickly and went out. So they followed her, supposing that she was going to the tomb to cry there.

So the chief priests and the Pharisees convened the Sanhedrin and said, "What are we going to do since this man does many signs?

He did not say this on his own, but being high priest that year he prophesied that Jesus was going to die for the nation,

But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples, who was going to betray him, asked,

because on account of him many of the Jews were going away, and were believing in Jesus.

The crowd was going out to meet Jesus because they had heard that he had performed this sign.

Now there were some Greeks among those who were going up to worship at the feast;

(Now he said this to indicate clearly what kind of death he was going to die.)

Jesus answered, "The light will be with you only a little longer. Walk while you have the light so that darkness doesn't overtake you. The one who walks in darkness doesn't know where he's going.

While ye have the light, believe in the light, that ye may become sons of light. Jesus said these things, and going away hid himself from them.

So while a meal was going on, the Evil One having now put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to be false to him,

He came to Simon Peter, who asked Him, "Lord, are You going to wash my feet?"

After saying this, Jesus was deeply troubled in spirit and declared solemnly, "Truly, I tell all of you emphatically, one of you is going to betray me!"

Jesus answered, It is the one to whom I am going to give this morsel (bit) of food after I have dipped it. So when He had dipped the morsel of bread [into the dish], He gave it to Judas, Simon Iscariot's son.

Then he took a piece of bread, dipped it, and gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot. After he had taken the piece of bread, Satan entered him. Then Jesus told him, "Do quickly what you are going to do!"

"Children, I am with you a little while longer. You will look for Me, and just as I told the Jews, 'Where I am going you cannot come,' so now I tell you.

"Lord," Simon Peter said to Him, "where are You going?" Jesus answered, "Where I am going you cannot follow Me now, but you will follow later."

In My Father's house are many dwelling places; , a traveler's resting place. The Gk word is related to the verb meno , meaning remain or stay, which occurs 40 times in John. if not, I would have told you. I am going away to prepare a place for you.

"Lord," Thomas said, "we don't know where You're going. How can we know the way?"

"I assure you: The one who believes in Me will also do the works that I do. And he will do even greater works than these, because I am going to the Father.

Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, "Lord, how is it You're going to reveal Yourself to us and not to the world?"

On the contrary, [I am going away] so that the world may know that I love the Father. Just as the Father commanded Me, so I do. "Get up; let's leave this place.

Therefore some of His disciples said to one another, "What is this He tells us: 'A little while and you will not see Me; again a little while and you will see Me' ; and, 'because I am going to the Father' ?"

Then Jesus, knowing everything that was going to happen, went forward and asked them, "Who are you looking for?"

They said this so that Jesus' words might be fulfilled signifying what sort of death He was going to die.

So Pilate asked him, "Aren't you going to speak to me? You realize, don't you, that I have the authority to release you and the authority to crucify you?"

So Peter and the other disciple went forth, and they were going to the tomb.

Jesus saith to her, 'Be not touching me, for I have not yet ascended unto my Father; and be going on to my brethren, and say to them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father, and to my God, and to your God.'

"I'm going fishing," Simon Peter said to them. "We're coming with you," they told him. They went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.

So Peter turned around and saw the disciple Jesus loved following them. [That disciple] was the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper and asked, "Lord, who is the one that's going to betray You?"

So the rumor spread among the brothers that this disciple wasn't going to die. Yet Jesus didn't say to Peter that he wasn't going to die, but, "If it's my will for him to remain until I come back, how does that concern you?"
