'Man' in the Bible
All of a sudden, there was a man in their synagogue who had an unclean spirit! He screamed,
At this, the unclean spirit shook the man, cried out with a loud voice, and came out of him.
He told the man, "Be sure that you don't tell anyone. Instead, go and show yourself to the priest, and then offer for your cleansing what Moses commanded as proof to the authorities."
But when the man left, he began to proclaim it freely. He spread the news so widely that Jesus could no longer enter a town openly, but had to stay out in deserted places. Still, people kept coming to him from everywhere.
when some people came and brought him a paralyzed man being carried by four men.
Since they couldn't bring him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof over the place where he was. They dug through it and let down the mat on which the paralyzed man was lying.
When Jesus saw their faith, he told the paralyzed man, "Son, your sins are forgiven."
"Why does this man talk this way? He is blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?"
"Which is easier: to say to the paralyzed man, "Your sins are forgiven,' or "Get up, pick up your mat, and walk'?
But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins"" Then he told the paralyzed man,
So the man got up, immediately picked up his mat, and went out in front of all of them. As a result, all of the people were amazed and began to glorify God as they kept on saying, "We have never seen anything like this!"
Therefore, the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath."
Jesus went into the synagogue again, and a man with a paralyzed hand was there.
He told the man with the paralyzed hand, "Come forward."
Jesus looked around at them in anger, deeply hurt because of their hard hearts. Then he told the man, "Hold out your hand." The man held it out, and his hand was restored to health.
No one can go into a strong man's house and carry off his possessions without first tying up the strong man. Then he can ransack his house.
He was also saying, "The kingdom of God is like a man who scatters seeds on the ground.
Overcome with fear, they kept saying to one another, "Who is this man? Even the wind and the sea obey him!"
Just as Jesus stepped out of the boat, a man with an unclean spirit came out of the tombs and met him.
Jesus had been saying to him, "Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!"
So he let them do this. The unclean spirits came out of the man and went into the pigs, and the herd of about 2,000 rushed down a steep slope into the sea and drowned there.
When they came to Jesus and saw the man who had been possessed by the legion of demons, sitting there dressed and in his right mind, they were frightened.
The people who had seen it told them what had happened to the demon-possessed man and the pigs.
As Jesus was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon-possessed kept begging him to let him go with him.
So the man left and began proclaiming in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him. And everyone was utterly amazed.
When the Sabbath came, he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were utterly amazed. "Where did this man get all these things?" they asked. "What is this wisdom that has been given to him? What great miracles are being done by his hands!
because Herod was afraid of John. He knew that John was a righteous and holy man, and so he protected him. Whenever he listened to John, he did much of what he said. In fact, he liked listening to him.
Some people brought him a deaf man who also had a speech impediment. They begged him to lay his hand on him.
As they came to Bethsaida, some people brought a blind man to Jesus and begged him to touch him.
Jesus took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village. He spit into his eyes, placed his hands on him, and asked him, "Do you see anything?"
The man looked up and said, "I see people, but they look like trees walking around."
Then he began to teach them that the Son of Man would have to suffer a great deal and be rejected by the elders, the high priests, and the scribes. Then he would be killed, but after three days he would rise again.
If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes with the holy angels in his Father's glory."
On their way down the mountain, Jesus ordered them not to tell anyone what they had seen until the Son of Man had risen from the dead.
He told them, "Elijah is indeed coming first and will restore all things. Why, then, is it written that the Son of Man must suffer a great deal and be treated shamefully?
A man in the crowd answered him, "Teacher, I brought my son to you. He has a spirit that won't let him talk.
because he was teaching his disciples, "The Son of Man will be betrayed into human hands. They will kill him, but after being dead for three days he will be raised."
Some Pharisees came to test him. They asked, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?"
They said, "Moses allowed a man to write a certificate of divorce and to divorce her."
That's why "a man will leave his father and mother and be united with his wife,
Therefore, what God has joined together, man must never separate."
And if a woman divorces her husband and marries another man, she commits adultery."
As Jesus was setting out again, a man ran up to him, knelt down in front of him, and asked him, "Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
The man replied to him, "Teacher, I have obeyed all of these since I was a young man."
Shocked at this statement, the man went away sad, because he had many possessions.
Once again, Jesus took the Twelve aside and began to tell them what was going to happen to him. "Pay attention! We're going up to Jerusalem. The Son of Man will be handed over to the high priests and the scribes, and they'll condemn him to death. Then they'll hand him over to the unbelievers,
because even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many people."
So they called the blind man and told him, "Have courage! Get up. He's calling you." He threw off his coat, jumped up, and went to Jesus.
Then Jesus asked him, "What do you want me to do for you?" The blind man told him, "Rabbouni, I want to see again."
Jesus told him, "Go. Your faith has made you well." At once the man could see again, and he began to follow Jesus down the road.
Then Jesus began to speak to them in parables. "A man planted a vineyard. He put a wall around it, dug a pit for the wine press, and built a watchtower. Then he leased it to tenant farmers and went abroad.
Again, the man sent another servant to them. They beat the servant over the head and treated him shamefully.
Then the man sent another, and that one they killed. So it was with many other servants. Some of these they beat, and others they killed.
When Jesus saw how wisely the man answered, he told him, "You are not far from the kingdom of God." After that, no one dared to ask him another question.
Then people will see "the Son of Man coming in clouds' with great power and glory.
In the same way, when you see these things taking place, you will know that the Son of Man is near, right at the door.
It's like a man who went on a trip. As he left home, he put his servants in charge, each with his own work, and he ordered the doorkeeper to be alert.
He sent two of his disciples, telling them, "Go into the city, and you will meet a man carrying a jug of water. Follow him.
For the Son of Man is going away, just as it has been written about him, but how terrible it will be for that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been better for him if he had never been born."
He came back a third time. "Are you still sleeping and resting?" he asked. "Enough of that! The time has come. Look! The Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of sinners.
Now the betrayer personally had given them a signal, saying, "The one I kiss is the man. Arrest him, and lead him safely away."
A certain young man, who was wearing nothing but a linen sheet, was following Jesus. When the men grabbed him,
Jesus said, "I AM, and "you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of the Power' and "coming with the clouds of heaven.'"
The servant girl saw him and again told those who were standing around, "This man is one of them!"
Then he began to invoke a divine curse and to swear with an oath, "I don't know this man you're talking about!"
Now there was a man in prison named Barabbas. He had been with the insurgents who had committed murder during the rebellion.
So Pilate asked them again, "Then what should I do with the man you call "the King of the Jews'?"
When the centurion who stood facing Jesus saw how he had cried out and breathed his last, he said, "This man certainly was the Son of God!"
As they went into the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were utterly astonished.
