'Mankind' in the Bible

When mankind began to multiply on the earth and daughters were born to them,

And the Lord said, “My Spirit will not remain with mankind forever, because they are corrupt. Their days will be 120 years.”

Every creature perished—those that crawl on the earth, birds, livestock, wildlife, and those that swarm on the earth, as well as all mankind.

He wiped out every living thing that was on the surface of the ground, from mankind to livestock, to creatures that crawl, to the birds of the sky, and they were wiped off the earth. Only Noah was left, and those that were with him in the ark.

For who out of all mankind has heard the voice of the living God speaking from the fire, as we have, and lived?

“I would have said: I will cut them to piecesand blot out the memory of them from mankind,

What You have done so far was a little thing to You, Lord God, for You have also spoken about Your servant’s house in the distant future. And this is a revelation for mankind, Lord God.

But mankind is born for troubleas surely as sparks fly upward.

Isn’t mankind consigned to forced labor on earth?Are not his days like those of a hired hand?

If I have sinned, what have I done to You,Watcher of mankind?Why have You made me Your target,so that I have become a burden to You?

The life of every living thing is in His hand,as well as the breath of all mankind.

He said to mankind,“The fear of the Lord is this: wisdom.And to turn from evil is understanding.”

every living thing would perish togetherand mankind would return to the dust.

All mankind has seen it;people have looked at it from a distance.

which the clouds pour outand shower abundantly on mankind.

serve as His sign to all mankind,so that all men may know His work.

Come and see the wonders of God;His acts for humanity are awe-inspiring.

You return mankind to the dust,saying, “Return, descendants of Adam.”

“People, I call out to you;my cry is to mankind.

There is a generation whose teeth are swords,whose fangs are knives,devouring the oppressed from the landand the needy from among mankind.

It is better to go to a house of mourningthan to go to a house of feasting,since that is the end of all mankind,and the living should take it to heart.

I will make man scarcer than gold,and mankind more rare than the gold of Ophir.

All mankind will come to worship Mefrom one New Moon to anotherand from one Sabbath to another,”says the Lord.

“As they leave, they will see the dead bodies of the men who have rebelled against Me; for their worm will never die, their fire will never go out, and they will be a horror to all mankind.”

This is what the Lord says:The man who trusts in mankind,who makes human flesh his strengthand turns his heart from the Lord is cursed.

You performed signs and wonders in the land of Egypt and do so to this very day both in Israel and among mankind. You made a name for Yourself, as is the case today.

For He does not enjoy bringing afflictionor suffering on mankind.

Then the remnant of Jacobwill be among many peopleslike dew from the Lord,like showers on the grass,which do not wait for anyoneor linger for mankind.

You have made mankindlike the fish of the sea,like marine creatures that have no ruler.

I will sweep away man and animal;I will sweep away the birds of the skyand the fish of the sea,and the ruins along with the wicked.I will cut off mankindfrom the face of the earth.This is the Lord’s declaration.

I will bring distress on mankind,and they will walk like the blindbecause they have sinned against the Lord.Their blood will be poured out like dustand their flesh like dung.

so the rest of humanitymay seek the Lord—even all the Gentileswho are called by My name,declares the Lord who does these things,

the only One who has immortality,dwelling in unapproachable light;no one has seen or can see Him,to Him be honor and eternal might.Amen.
