'People' in the Bible

If I have told you people about earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you about heavenly things?

John also was baptizing in Aenon near Salim, because there was plenty of water there. People were coming and being baptized,

they came to John and reported to him, "Rabbi, he who was with you on the other side of the Jordan and to whom you bore testimony is now baptizing, and great numbers of people are resorting to him."

The woman of Samaria said to him, Why do you, a Jew, make a request for water to me, a woman of Samaria? She said this because Jews have nothing to do with the people of Samaria.

Our ancestors worshipped on this mountain. But you Jews say that the place where people should worship is in Jerusalem."

Then the woman left her water jar and went back to town. She told people,

The people left the town and started on their way to him.

Now a number of the people of that town had faith in him because of the woman's witness: He has been talking to me of everything I ever did.

So when the people came to him they made request to him to be among them for a time, and he was there two days.

Then a far larger number of people believed because of His own words,

and under these a large number of sick people were lying blind, lame, or paralyzed waiting for the movement of the water.

Now he who had been made well had no knowledge who it was, Jesus having gone away because of the number of people who were in that place.

so that all people will honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Anyone who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.

(And I do not receive testimony from people, but I say these [things] in order that you may be saved.)

Therefore, when Jesus looked up and noticed a huge crowd coming toward Him, He asked Philip, “Where will we buy bread so these people can eat?”

Then Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.”There was plenty of grass in that place, so they sat down. The men numbered about 5,000.

Then Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks, He distributed them to those who were seated; the same also with the fish, as much as they wanted.

So they gathered them up and filled twelve baskets with broken pieces from the five barley loaves left over by the people who had eaten.

When the people saw the sign He had done, they said, “This really is the Prophet who was to come into the world!”

Now when Jesus saw that the people were about to come and take him by force to make him a king, he went away again up the mountain by himself.

The day following, when the people which stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was none other boat there, save that one whereinto his disciples were entered, and that Jesus went not with his disciples into the boat, but that his disciples were gone away alone;

When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus.

And there was much murmuring among the people concerning him: for some said, He is a good man: others said, Nay; but he deceiveth the people.

Some of the people of Jerusalem were saying, “Isn’t this the man they want to kill?

And many of the people believed on him, and said, When Christ cometh, will he do more miracles than these which this man hath done?

The Pharisees heard that the people murmured such things concerning him; and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take him.

Then the Jewish leaders said to one another, "Where is he going to go that we cannot find him? He is not going to go to the Jewish people dispersed among the Greeks and teach the Greeks, is he?

Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet.

And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.

Jesus answered, "Even if I testify about myself, my testimony is true, because I know where I came from and where I am going. But you people do not know where I came from or where I am going.

Jesus replied, "You people are from below; I am from above. You people are from this world; I am not from this world.

While he was saying these things, many people believed in him.

You people are doing the deeds of your father." Then they said to Jesus, "We were not born as a result of immorality! We have only one Father, God himself."

Jesus replied, "If I glorify myself, my glory is worthless. The one who glorifies me is my Father, about whom you people say, 'He is our God.'

Then the neighbors and the people who had seen him previously as a beggar began saying, "Is this not the man who used to sit and beg?"

Some people said, "This is the man!" while others said, "No, but he looks like him." The man himself kept insisting, "I am the one!"

He answered, "I told you already and you didn't listen. Why do you want to hear it again? You people don't want to become his disciples too, do you?"

Another sharp division took place among the Jewish people because of these words.

Others said, These are not the words of one who has an evil spirit. Is it possible for an evil spirit to make blind people see?

If those people to whom the word of God came were called 'gods' (and the scripture cannot be broken),

Many people came to him and kept saying, "John never performed a sign, but everything that John said about this man is true!"

And many there believed and confidently trusted in Him [accepting Him as Savior, and following His teaching].

so many of the Jewish people of the region had come to Martha and Mary to console them over the loss of their brother.)

Then the people who were with Mary in the house consoling her saw her get up quickly and go out. They followed her, because they thought she was going to the tomb to weep there.

When Jesus saw her weeping, and the people who had come with her weeping, he was intensely moved in spirit and greatly distressed.

And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.

Then many of the people, who had come with Mary and had seen the things Jesus did, believed in him.

Now the Jewish Passover was approaching, and before the Passover many people from the countryside went up to Jerusalem to purify themselves.

“Why was this perfume not sold for three hundred denarii and given to poor people?”

Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.

for on account of him many of the Jewish people from Jerusalem were going away and believing in Jesus.

On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,

At first, his disciples didn't understand these things. However, when Jesus had been glorified, they remembered that these things had been written about him and that people had done these things to him.

The people therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from the dead, bare record.

For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he had done this miracle.

Now there were some Greeks among the people who had come up to give worship at the feast:

The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him.

The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?

Yet many people, even some of the authorities, believed in him, but because of the Pharisees they did not admit it so they would not be thrown out of the synagogue.

“I have manifested Your name [and revealed Your very self, Your real self] to the people whom You have given Me out of the world; they were Yours and You gave them to Me, and they have kept and obeyed Your word.

Now Caiaphas was he, which gave counsel to the Jews, that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.

Jesus replied, "I have spoken publicly to the world. I always taught in the synagogues and in the temple courts, where all the Jewish people assemble together. I have said nothing in secret.

Why do you question me? Question those who heard what I said. These are the people who know what I said."

Meanwhile, Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. Some people asked him, "You aren't one of his disciples, too, are you?" He denied it by saying, "I am not!"

Pilate answered, "I am not a Jew, am I? Your own people and your chief priests handed you over to me. What have you done?"

Jesus said to him, "Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are the people who have not seen and yet have believed."

During these days Peter stood up among the brothers—the number of people who were together was about 120—and said:

This fact became widely known to the people of Jerusalem, so that the place received the name, in their language, of Achel-damach, which means 'The Field of Blood.')

Then they prayed, "Lord, you know the hearts of all people. Show us which one of these two men you have chosen

Stunned and amazed, they asked, "All of these people who are speaking are Galileans, aren't they?

Parthians, Medes, Elamites, and people from Mesopotamia, Judea, Cappadocia, Pontus, Asia,

For these people are not drunk, as you suppose, since it’s only nine in the morning.

And in the last days it will be,' God says, 'that I will pour out my Spirit on all people, and your sons and your daughters will prophesy, and your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams.
