'People' in the Bible

I will not be afraid of ten thousands of peopleWho have set themselves against me round about.

Salvation belongs to the Lord;Your blessing be upon Your people! Selah.

Do all the workers of wickedness not know,Who eat up my people as they eat bread,And do not call upon the Lord?

Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion!When the Lord restores His captive people,Jacob will rejoice, Israel will be glad.

For You save an afflicted people,But haughty eyes You abase.

You have delivered me from the contentions of the people;You have placed me as head of the nations;A people whom I have not known serve me.

But I am a worm and not a man,A reproach of men and despised by the people.

They will come and will declare His righteousnessTo a people who will be born, that He has performed it.

Save Your people and bless Your inheritance;Be their shepherd also, and carry them forever.

The Lord will give strength to His people;The Lord will bless His people with peace.

Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,The people whom He has chosen for His own inheritance.

You sell Your people cheaply,And have not profited by their sale.

Listen, O daughter, give attention and incline your ear:Forget your people and your father’s house;

The daughter of Tyre will come with a gift;The rich among the people will seek your favor.

The princes of the people have assembled themselves as the people of the God of Abraham,For the shields of the earth belong to God;He is highly exalted.

He summons the heavens above,And the earth, to judge His people:

“Hear, O My people, and I will speak;O Israel, I will testify against you;I am God, your God.

Have the workers of wickedness no knowledge,Who eat up My people as though they ate breadAnd have not called upon God?

Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion!When God restores His captive people,Let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad.

Do not slay them, or my people will forget;Scatter them by Your power, and bring them down,O Lord, our shield.

You have made Your people experience hardship;You have given us wine to drink that makes us stagger.

Trust in Him at all times, O people;Pour out your heart before Him;God is a refuge for us. Selah.

O God, when You went forth before Your people,When You marched through the wilderness, Selah.

O God, You are awesome from Your sanctuary.The God of Israel Himself gives strength and power to the people.Blessed be God!

May he judge Your people with righteousnessAnd Your afflicted with justice.

Let the mountains bring peace to the people,And the hills, in righteousness.

May he vindicate the afflicted of the people,Save the children of the needyAnd crush the oppressor.

Therefore his people return to this place,And waters of abundance are drunk by them.

Remember this, O Lord, that the enemy has reviled,And a foolish people has spurned Your name.

You have by Your power redeemed Your people,The sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah.

You led Your people like a flockBy the hand of Moses and Aaron.

A Maskil of Asaph.Listen, O my people, to my instruction;Incline your ears to the words of my mouth.

“Behold, He struck the rock so that waters gushed out,And streams were overflowing;Can He give bread also?Will He provide meat for His people?”

But He led forth His own people like sheepAnd guided them in the wilderness like a flock;

He also delivered His people to the sword,And was filled with wrath at His inheritance.

From the care of the ewes with suckling lambs He brought himTo shepherd Jacob His people,And Israel His inheritance.

So we Your people and the sheep of Your pastureWill give thanks to You forever;To all generations we will tell of Your praise.

O Lord God of hosts,How long will You be angry with the prayer of Your people?

“Hear, O My people, and I will admonish you;O Israel, if you would listen to Me!

“But My people did not listen to My voice,And Israel did not obey Me.

“Oh that My people would listen to Me,That Israel would walk in My ways!

They make shrewd plans against Your people,And conspire together against Your treasured ones.

You forgave the iniquity of Your people;You covered all their sin. Selah.

Will You not Yourself revive us again,That Your people may rejoice in You?

I will hear what God the Lord will say;For He will speak peace to His people, to His godly ones;But let them not turn back to folly.

How blessed are the people who know the joyful sound!O Lord, they walk in the light of Your countenance.

Once You spoke in vision to Your godly ones,And said, “I have given help to one who is mighty;I have exalted one chosen from the people.

They crush Your people, O Lord,And afflict Your heritage.

Pay heed, you senseless among the people;And when will you understand, stupid ones?

For the Lord will not abandon His people,Nor will He forsake His inheritance.

For He is our God,And we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand.Today, if you would hear His voice,

“For forty years I loathed that generation,And said they are a people who err in their heart,And they do not know My ways.

Know that the Lord Himself is God;It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.

This will be written for the generation to come,That a people yet to be created may praise the Lord.

And they wandered about from nation to nation,From one kingdom to another people.

And He caused His people to be very fruitful,And made them stronger than their adversaries.

He turned their heart to hate His people,To deal craftily with His servants.

And He brought forth His people with joy,His chosen ones with a joyful shout.

Remember me, O Lord, in Your favor toward Your people;Visit me with Your salvation,

Therefore the anger of the Lord was kindled against His peopleAnd He abhorred His inheritance.

Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,From everlasting even to everlasting.And let all the people say, “Amen.”Praise the Lord!

Let them extol Him also in the congregation of the people,And praise Him at the seat of the elders.

Your people will volunteer freely in the day of Your power;In holy array, from the womb of the dawn,Your youth are to You as the dew.

He has made known to His people the power of His works,In giving them the heritage of the nations.

He has sent redemption to His people;He has ordained His covenant forever;Holy and awesome is His name.

To make them sit with princes,With the princes of His people.

When Israel went forth from Egypt,The house of Jacob from a people of strange language,

I shall pay my vows to the Lord,Oh may it be in the presence of all His people.

I shall pay my vows to the Lord,Oh may it be in the presence of all His people,

As the mountains surround Jerusalem,So the Lord surrounds His peopleFrom this time forth and forever.

And He gave their land as a heritage,A heritage to Israel His people.

For the Lord will judge His peopleAnd will have compassion on His servants.

To Him who led His people through the wilderness,For His lovingkindness is everlasting;

My lovingkindness and my fortress,My stronghold and my deliverer,My shield and He in whom I take refuge,Who subdues my people under me.

How blessed are the people who are so situated;How blessed are the people whose God is the Lord!

And He has lifted up a horn for His people,Praise for all His godly ones;Even for the sons of Israel, a people near to Him.Praise the Lord!

For the Lord takes pleasure in His people;He will beautify the afflicted ones with salvation.
