'Sons' in the Bible
For in bringing many sons to glory, it was entirely appropriate that God—all things exist for Him and through Him—should make the source of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
The sons of Levi who receive the priestly office have a command according to the law to collect a tenth from the people—that is, from their brothers—though they have also descended from Abraham.
By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of the sons of Joseph, and he worshiped, leaning on the top of his staff.

Endure suffering as discipline: God is dealing with you as sons. For what son is there that a father does not discipline?
But if you are without discipline—which all receive—then you are illegitimate children and not sons.
