'Sorrow' in the Bible
And I decided this to myself, not again to come in sorrow unto you,
For if I cause you sorrow, who then makes me glad but the one whom I made sorrowful?
And I wrote this same unto you, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all.
I wrote to you out of great sorrow and anguish of heart along with many tears not to make you sad but to let you know how much love I have for you.
And if any one hath caused sorrow, he hath not caused sorrow to me, but in part, that I may not burden you all;
So that contrariwise ye ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.
But in everything making it clear that we are the servants of God, in quiet strength, in troubles, in need, in sorrow,
As full of sorrow, but ever glad; as poor, but giving wealth to others; as having nothing, but still having all things.
and not only by his arrival, but also by the comfort he received from you. He told us about your deep longing, your sorrow, and your zeal for me, so that I rejoiced even more.
If I made you sad with my letter, I do not regret it, although I did regret it then. I see that the letter caused you sorrow, though only for a while.

See what great earnestness godly sorrow has produced in you! How ready you are to clear yourselves, how indignant, how alarmed, how full of longing and enthusiasm, how eager to seek justice! In every way you have demonstrated that you are innocent in this matter.
each one, according as he doth purpose in heart, not out of sorrow or out of necessity, for a cheerful giver doth God love,
Who is weak, and I do not feel [his] weakness? Who is made to sin, and I am not on fire [with sorrow and concern]?
I am afraid that when I come again my God may humiliate me before you, and I may mourn over many of those who have sinned in the past and not repented of the impurity, sexual immorality and decadence which they formerly practiced.
