'Stay' in the Bible
After they were gone, an angel of the Lord suddenly appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, “Get up! Take the child and His mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you. For Herod is about to search for the child to destroy Him.”
“When you enter any town or village, find out who is worthy, and stay there until you leave.
nor let him who is outside the city stay to pick up his outer garment.
"Therefore stay alert, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.
Therefore stay alert, because you do not know the day or the hour.
Then He said to them, “My soul is swallowed up in sorrow —to the point of death. Remain here and stay awake with Me.”
Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping. He asked Peter, “So, couldn’t you stay awake with Me one hour?
Stay awake and pray, so that you won’t enter into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
But when the man left, he began to proclaim it freely. He spread the news so widely that Jesus could no longer enter a town openly, but had to stay out in deserted places. Still, people kept coming to him from everywhere.
He spoke to his disciples that a little boat should stay near him because of the crowd, so that they wouldn't press on him.
Then He said to them, “Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you leave that place.
Watch out! Stay alert! For you do not know when the time will come.
It is like a man away on a journey, who upon leaving his house and putting his slaves in charge, assigning to each one his task, also commanded the doorkeeper to stay on the alert.
Stay alert, then, because you do not know when the owner of the house will return -- whether during evening, at midnight, when the rooster crows, or at dawn --
Then He said to them, “My soul is swallowed up in sorrow —to the point of death. Remain here and stay awake.”
Then He came and found them sleeping. “Simon, are you sleeping?” He asked Peter. “Couldn’t you stay awake one hour?
Stay awake and pray so that you won’t enter into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
When He got out on land, a demon-possessed man from the town met Him. For a long time he had worn no clothes and did not stay in a house but in the tombs.
And the man from who the demons had gone out was begging him to stay with him, but he sent him away, saying,
Whatever house you enter, stay there and leave from there.
Stay with the same family, eating and drinking whatever they provide, because the worker deserves his pay. Don't move from house to house.
When Jesus came to the place, He looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down because today I must stay at your house.”
Then He began to tell the people this parable: “A man planted a vineyard and leased it to tenant farmers, and went on a journey for a long time [to another country].
But stay alert at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that must happen, and to stand before the Son of Man."
Now in the daytime Jesus was teaching in [the porches and courts of] the temple, but at night He would go out and spend the night on the mount that is called Olivet.
But they urged Him: “Stay with us, because it’s almost evening, and now the day is almost over.” So He went in to stay with them.
And look, I am sending you what My Father promised. As for you, stay in the city until you are empowered from on high.”
Afterwards He went down to Capernaum--He, and His mother, and His brothers, and His disciples; and they made a short stay there.
After this Jesus and His disciples went into Judaea; and there He made a stay in company with them and baptized.
Therefore, when the Samaritans came to Him, they asked Him to stay with them, and He stayed there two days.
In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if not, I would have told you. I am going away to prepare a place for you.
Then, because it was the day of preparation, so that the bodies should not stay on the crosses on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was an especially important one), the Jewish leaders asked Pilate to have the victims' legs broken and the bodies taken down.
Jesus said to him, “If I want him to stay alive until I come [again], what is that to you? You follow Me!”
So this word went out among the brothers that this disciple (John) was not going to die; yet Jesus did not say to him that he was not going to die, but only, “If I want him to stay alive until I come [again], what is that to you?”
And now, I tell you, stay away from these men and leave them alone. For if this plan or this work is of men, it will be overthrown;
The same took advantage of our race, and mistreated our fathers, and forced them to throw out their babies, so that they wouldn't stay alive.
The Spirit told Philip, "Approach that chariot and stay near it."
And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay for a few days.

Some of the disciples from Caesarea also went with us and brought us to Mnason, a Cypriot and an early disciple, with whom we were to stay.
After a stay of eight or ten days in Jerusalem--not more--he went down to Caesarea; and the next day, taking his seat on the tribunal, he ordered Paul to be brought in.
and, during their rather long stay, Festus laid Paul's case before the king. "There is a man here," he said, "whom Felix left a prisoner,
Paul said to the centurion and the soldiers, “Unless these men stay in the ship, you cannot be saved.”
At the end of three months we set sail on a ship which had wintered at the island, an Alexandrian ship with the Twin Brothers [Castor and Pollux] as its figurehead.
There we found believers and were invited to stay with them for seven days.And so we came to Rome.
When we entered Rome, Paul was permitted to stay by himself with the soldier who guarded him.
Now I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who create divisions and sinful enticements that oppose the teaching you have learned. Stay away from them,
Everyone should stay in the same condition in which he was called.
Brothers, everyone should stay in the same condition in which he was called by God.
Therefore I consider this to be good because of the present distress: It is fine for a man to remain as he is.
and will probably stay with you for a while or even spend the winter with you. Then you can send me on my way, wherever I decide to go.
For I do not wish to see you now in passing, but I hope to stay a while with you, if the Lord permits.
But I will stay in Ephesus until Pentecost,
Stay alert, stand firm in the faith, show courage, be strong.
We will not boast about what cannot be evaluated. Instead, we will stay within the field that God assigned us, so as to reach even you.
Pray at all times in the Spirit with every prayer and request, and stay alert in this with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints.
But since to live means a longer stay on earth, that implies more labour for me--and not unsuccessful labour; and which I am to choose I cannot tell.
Since I am convinced of this, I know that I will remain and continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith,
The only thing that matters is that you continue to live as good citizens in a manner worthy of the gospel of the Messiah. Then, whether I come to see you or whether I stay away, I may hear all about you that you are standing firm in one spirit, struggling with one mind for the faith of the gospel,
[and He will do this] if you continue in the faith, well-grounded and steadfast, and not shifting away from the [confident] hope [that is a result] of the gospel that you have heard, which was proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which [gospel] I, Paul, was made a minister.
Devote yourselves to prayer; stay alert in it with thanksgiving.
So when we could bear it no longer, we decided to stay on in Athens alone.
So then, we must not sleep, like the rest, but we must stay awake and be serious.
But since we are of the day, we must stay sober by putting on the breastplate of faith and love and as a helmet our hope for salvation.
Stay away from every kind of evil.
When I was on my way to Macedonia, I urged you to stay in Ephesus so that you could instruct certain people to stop teaching false doctrine
in case I am delayed, so that you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth.
They will hold to an outward form of godliness but deny its power. Stay away from such people.
At the same time also, prepare a place for me to stay, for I hope that through your prayers I will be given back to you.
and one of you tells them, "Go in peace! Stay warm and eat heartily." If you do not provide for their bodily needs, what good does it do?

The one who habitually keeps His commandments [obeying His word and following His precepts, abides and] remains in Him, and He in him. By this we know and have the proof that He [really] abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us [as a gift].
and they are seven kings: five of whom have fallen, one exists and is reigning; the other [the seventh] has not yet come, and when he does come, he must remain a little while.
