'Praising' in the Bible

In the presence of the ark of the LORD, he appointed some of the descendants of Levi to minister continually by remembering, giving thanks, and praising the LORD God of Israel.

Now I am not praising you in giving you the following instructions. When you gather, it is not for the better but for the worse.

Otherwise, if you are praising God with your spirit, how can someone without the gift say "Amen" to your thanksgiving, since he does not know what you are saying?
