Ministers

Who also qualified us as ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter, but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit makes alive.

but in everything commending ourselves as God's ministers, in much patience, in tribulations, in necessities, in distresses,

What, then, is Apollos? and what is Paul? Ministers through whom ye believed; and as the Lord gave to each.

Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.

and sent Timothy, our brother and minister of God in the Gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to exhort you concerning your faith;

I am

For I reckon that I am in no respect behind the most eminent apostles.

In labours

But by God's grace I am what I am; and His grace which was bestowed upon me did not prove vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all; yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

to which end I am toiling also, striving according to His working, which is working in me with power.

In stripes

from the Jews five times I received forty stripes save one;

but in everything commending ourselves as God's ministers, in much patience, in tribulations, in necessities, in distresses,

for I will show him how many things he must suffer for My name's sake.

In prisons

who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.

except that the Holy Spirit testifieth to me in every city, saying that bonds and tribulations await me.

Be not ashamed, therefore, of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner; but suffer hardship with me for the Gospel, according to the power of God,

wherein I am suffering hardship, even to bonds, as a malefactor; but the Word of God has not become bound.

yet for love's sake I rather exhort, being such a one as Paul an aged man, and now also a prisoner of Christ Jesus:

for ye both sympathized with those in bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your possessions; knowing that ye yourselves have a better possession and an abiding one.

In deaths

yea, we ourselves had in ourselves the sentence of death, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God, Who raiseth the dead;

For we who live are always delivered up to death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal flesh.

as unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and, behold, we live; as chastened, and not killed;

But there came thither Jews from Antioch and Iconium; and, having persuaded the multitudes, and having stoned Paul, they drew him outside the city, supposing him to have died.

Why, too, are we in peril every hour?

But even if I am offered as a libation upon the sacrifice and ministry of your faith, I rejoice, and I rejoice with you all;

Now I rejoice in my sufferings in your behalf, and fill up in turn the deficiencies of the tribulations of Christ in my flesh for the sake of His body, which is the assembly;
