therefore being always certainly assur'd that whilst I sojourn in this body, I am absent from the Lord,

I knew a christian who above fourteen years ago, was snatch'd up even to the third heaven, whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knows.

Lord, thou wilt grant thy servant a happy death, according to thy promise.

but Paul replied, what do you mean by afflicting me thus with your tears? I am not only ready to meet my chains, but even to die at Jerusalem, for the name of the Lord Jesus.

agreeably to that expectation and persuasion I have, that I shall not labour in vain; but as I always have, so I shall still glorify Christ in my body, whether it be by life or by death: for if I live, I live to Christ;

I have struggled in a glorious cause: I have finish'd my career: I have stood to the faith:

knowing that I must soon leave this tabernacle, as our Lord Jesus Christ has signify'd to me.

Since then this whole system is to be destroyed, how holy should your conduct be, and how ardent your piety?

wherefore I studiously endeavour, whether staying in it, or departing out of it, to be acceptable to him.

his lord said to him, well done, thou art an honest faithful servant; thou hast been faithful in a small trust, I will give thee a much larger trust; go in and partake of thy master's diversions.

and when I am gone, and have prepar'd a place for you, I will come again, to take you with me, that where I am there ye may be also.

father, I desire that they also whom thou hast given me, may be with me where I am going; that they may behold my glory which thou hast given me: for thou didst love me before the foundation of the world; yet,

then we, who shall be still alive, shall be convey'd together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall ever be with the Lord.

beloved, we are now the sons of God, tho' it does not yet appear what we shall be: but we know, that when this change shall be, his immediate presence will give us a divine resemblance.

my Lord, answer'd I, you can tell. and he said to me, these are they who came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the lamb.

There shall be nothing obnoxious to a curse: but the throne of God and of the lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him.
