Remember this: The man who sows sparingly will reap sparingly, and the man who sows generously will reap generously.

I bear

I can testify to their sincere devotion to God, but it is not an intelligent devotion.

What has become of that satisfaction of yours? For I can bear witness that you would have torn out your very eyes, if you could, and given them to me!

I can testify how anxious he is about you and the brothers in Laodicea and Hierapolis.

Beyond

If a man is willing to give, the value of his gift is in its proportion to what he has, not to what he has not.

For if I do it of my own accord, I have my pay, but if I do it because I must, it is still a responsibility that I am charged with.

For it is God who in his good will is at work in your hearts, inspiring your will and your action.

That was the kind of affection we had for you, which made us ready to share with you not only God's good news but our own lives too, because you were so dear to us.

but I do not wish to do anything without your consent, so that your kindness might be voluntary, and not have the appearance of compulsion.
