Israel Deported To Assyria And The Reasons It Fell

¹⁷ They caused their sons and their daughters to go through the fire to be sacrificed. They made use of secret arts and unnatural powers, and gave themselves up to doing evil in the eyes of Jehovah, till they provoked him to anger. ¹⁸ So the Lord was very angry with Israel and removed them from His sight; none was left except the tribe of Judah. ¹⁹ But even Judah did not obey the commands of Jehovah their God. They were guided by the rules Israel made.

1 Kings 11:13

Still I will not take the entire kingdom from him. I will give one tribe to your son, because of my servant David, and because of Jerusalem, the town of my selection.

But one tribe will be his because of my servant David, and because of Jerusalem. Out of the tribes of Israel he will have the town I have made mine.

I will let Solomon's son keep one tribe. That way I will always have a descendant of my servant David ruling in Jerusalem, the city I have chosen as the place where I am worshiped.
