2 Samuel 7:12

Yahweh Makes A Covenant With David

¹¹ even from the day that I commanded judges to be over My people Israel; and I will give you rest from all your enemies. The Lord also declares to you that the Lord will make a house for you. ¹² When your days are complete and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up your descendant after you, who will come forth from you, and I will establish his kingdom. ¹³ He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.

Establish His Kingdom

1 Kings 8:20

Now the Lord has fulfilled His word which He spoke; for I have risen in place of my father David and sit on the throne of Israel, as the Lord promised, and have built the house for the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.

1 Kings 2:1

As David’s time to die drew near, he charged Solomon his son, saying,

Deuteronomy 31:16

The Lord said to Moses, “Behold, you are about to lie down with your fathers; and this people will arise and play the harlot with the strange gods of the land, into the midst of which they are going, and will forsake Me and break My covenant which I have made with them.

Acts 13:36

For David, after he had served the purpose of God in his own generation, fell asleep, and was laid among his fathers and underwent decay;

The Lord has sworn to David
A truth from which He will not turn back:
“Of the fruit of your body I will set upon your throne.

Isaiah 9:7

There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace,
On the throne of David and over his kingdom,
To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness
From then on and forevermore.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this.
