For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether ye are obedient in all things.

And his tender affections are more abundantly toward you, while he remembers the obedience of you all, how with fear and trembling ye received him.

and holding ourselves in readiness to avenge every disobedience, when your obedience is made complete.

So then, my beloved, as ye always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;

Therefore, indeed, he that rejects, rejects not man, but God, Who giveth His Holy Spirit to you.

Having confidence in your obedience, I wrote to you, knowing that you will do even more than I say.

Obey those who are your leaders, and submit to them; for they watch in behalf of your souls, as those who are to give an account; that they may do this with joy, and not with sighing; for this would be unprofitable for you.

By this epistle, note that man

Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to withdraw yourselves from every brother walking disorderly, and not according to the instruction which ye received from us.

And, if he disregard them, tell it to the assembly; and, if he disregard the assembly also, let him be to you as the gentile and the tax-collector.

Now I beseech you, brethren, to mark those who are causing the divisions and occasions of stumbling, contrary to the teaching which ye learned; and turn away from them.

I wrote to you, in my letter, not to keep company with fornicators;
