Where is then the blessedness ye spake of? for I bear you record, that, if it had been possible, ye would have plucked out your own eyes, and have given them to me.
The purpose was that the blessing of Abraham would come to the Gentiles by Christ Jesus, so that we could receive the promised Spirit through faith.
But the fruit of the Spirit
is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith,
But each person should examine his own work,
and then he will have a reason for boasting in himself alone, and not in respect to someone else.
And the seed on the rock are those who, when they hear, welcome the word with joy. Having no root, these believe for a while and depart in a time of testing.
Likewise, David also speaks of the blessing of the man God credits righteousness to apart from works:
We have also obtained access through Him
by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in Him
so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
I can testify about them that they have zeal for God,
but not according to knowledge.
2 Corinthians 8:3
I testify that, on their own, according to their ability and beyond their ability,
For I testify about him that he works hard
for you, for those in Laodicea, and for those in Hierapolis.
