God's Covenant With David

¹⁶ The people of Judah and of Jerusalem will be rescued and will live in safety. The city will be called Jehovah is Our Righteousness.' ¹⁷ For thus says the Lord, ‘David shall never lack a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel; ¹⁸ and that there will always be priests from the tribe of Levi to serve me and to offer burnt offerings, grain offerings, and sacrifices.'

Jehovah, God of Israel, I pray that you will also keep the other promise you made to my father when you told him there would always be one of his descendants ruling as king of Israel, provided they obeyed you as carefully as he did.

1 Chronicles 17:11-14
