³⁸ and you do not keep His message living in you, because you do not believe in the messenger whom He has sent. ³⁹  "You keep on searching the Scriptures, for you yourselves suppose that you will get possession of eternal life through them; and yet they are witnesses that testify to me, ⁴⁰ but you refuse to come to me to get possession of life.
