The Parable Of The Pharisee And The Tax Collector

¹¹ The pharisee standing by himself prayed thus, O God, I thank thee that I am not as other men are, rapacious, unjust, adulterous, or even as this publican. ¹²  I fast twice a week, and I give tithes of all that I possess. ¹³ But the publican standing at a distance did not presume so much as to lift up his eyes to heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, O God, be merciful to me a sinner.
