And after this did Jehoshaphat king of Judah join himself with Ahaziah king of Israel, who did very wickedly:
He also agreed with King Ahaziah to build ships to sail toward Tarshish, which they built in Ezion-geber.
Then Eliezer the son of Dodavahu of Mareshah prophesied against Jehoshaphat, saying, Because you have joined yourself with Ahaziah, the LORD has broken your works. And the ships were broken, that they were not able to go to Tarshish.
They attacked Judah and swept through it. They carried off everything they found in the royal palace, including his sons and wives. None of his sons was left, except for his youngest, Ahaziah.
And the inhabitants of Jerusalem made Ahaziah his youngest son king in his stead: for the band of men that came with the Arabians to the camp had slain all the older sons. So Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah reigned.
Forty and two years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Athaliah the granddaughter of Omri.
so he returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds they inflicted on him in Ramoth-gilead
And the downfall of Ahaziah was of God by his coming to Joram: for when he had come, he went out with Jehoram against Jehu the son of Nimshi, whom the LORD had anointed to cut off the house of Ahab.
And it came to pass, that, when Jehu was executing judgment upon the house of Ahab, and found the princes of Judah, and the sons of the brothers of Ahaziah, that ministered to Ahaziah, he killed them.
And he sought Ahaziah: and they caught him, (for he had hid in Samaria,) and brought him to Jehu: and when they had slain him, they buried him: Because, they said, he is the son of Jehoshaphat, who sought the LORD with all his heart. So the house of Ahaziah had no one able to rule the kingdom.
But when Athaliah the mother of Ahaziah saw that her son was dead, she arose and destroyed all the royal descendants of the house of Judah.
But Jehoshabeath, the daughter of the king, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him away from among the king's sons that were being slain, and put him and his nurse in a bedchamber. So Jehoshabeath, the daughter of king Jehoram, the wife of Jehoiada the priest, (for she was the sister of Ahaziah,) hid him from Athaliah, so that she slew him not.
And Jehoash the king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash the son of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh, and brought him to Jerusalem and broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the Ephraim Gate to the Corner Gate, four hundred cubits.

And Jehoram the son of Ahab went to war with Hazael king of Syria, at Ramoth in Gilead, and the Syrians wounded him. Wherefore king Jehoram went back again, to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Syrians had given him at Ramoth, when he fought with Hazael king of Syria. Then he sent out another on horseback, which came to them and said, "Thus sayeth the king, 'Is it peace?'" And Jehu answered, "What hast thou to do with peace? Turn, and come after me." And the watchman told, saying, "He came to them, but he cometh not again, and the driving is like the driving of Jehu the son of Nimshi, for he driveth as he were mad." Then said Jehoram, "Make ready." And they made ready his chariot. And Jehoram king of Israel, and Ahaziah king of Judah, went out either in his chariot against Jehu, and met him in the furlong of Naboth the Jezreelite. And when Jehoram saw Jehu, he said, "Is it peace Jehu?" And he said, "What peace should there be, so long as the whoredoms of thy mother Jezebel and her witchcrafts are so great?" And Jehoram turned his hand and fled, and said to Ahaziah, "There is treason, Ahaziah!" And Jehu took a bow in his hand and smote Jehoram between the shoulders, that the arrow came out at his breast. And he fell down three fold in his chariot. Then he said to Bidkar, a lord of his, "Take and cast him in the plot of ground of Naboth the Jezreelite. For I remember as I and thou rode together after Ahab his father, how the LORD spake these words against him: 'I have seen yesterday the blood of Naboth and of his sons,' said the LORD, 'and I will quite him in this ground,' sayeth the LORD. Now therefore take him and cast him in the plot of ground according to the word of the LORD." And when Ahaziah the king of Judah saw that, he fled the way to the garden house. And Jehu followed after him and said, "Smite him also." And they smote him in his chariot at the going up to Gur by Ibleam; and he fled to Megiddo, and there died. And his servants carried him to Jerusalem, and buried him in his sepulchre with his fathers in the city of David. Ahaziah reigned over Judah in the eleventh year of Jehoram son of Ahab.

Wherefore he did that displeased the LORD like to the house of Ahab, for they were his counselors after the death of his father, to his destruction. And he also walked after their counsel. And Jehoram son of Ahab king of Israel went to fight with Hazael king of Syria at Ramoth in Gilead: and they of Ramoth wounded him. Wherefore he returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which were given him at Ramoth, when he fought with Hazael king of Syria. And Ahaziah the son of Jehoram king of Judah went down to see Joram the son of Ahab at Jezreel, because he was diseased. For it was thrust into Ahaziah of God to go to Joram, and that when he was come, he should go out with Joram against Jehu the son of Nimshi whom the LORD had anointed to destroy the house of Ahab. And as Jehu was executing justice upon the house of Ahab. He found the lords of Judah and the sons of the brethren of Ahaziah that waited on Ahaziah, and he slew them. And he sought Ahaziah, and they caught him where he was hid in Samaria, and brought him to Jehu. And when they had slain him they buried him: "Because," said they, "he was the son of Jehoshaphat which sought the LORD with all his heart." And there was none of the house of Ahaziah that could obtain to be king.
