In those days John the Baptist appeared, and preached in the desert of Judea.


Great crowds followed him about, from Galilee and the Ten Towns and Jerusalem and Judea and from the other side of the Jordan.

One day as he was teaching, there were some Pharisees and experts in the Law sitting near by, who had come from every village in Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem. The power of the Lord was there, so that he might cure people.

When he heard that Jesus had come back from Judea to Galilee, he went to him and begged him to come down and cure his son, for he was at the point of death.

This second sign Jesus showed after coming back from Judea to Galilee.


When Jesus had finished this discourse, he left Galilee and went to the part of Judea that is on the other side of the Jordan.

But they persisted and said, "He is stirring up the people all over Judea by his teaching. He began in Galilee and he has come here."

And he left that place and went into the district of Judea and crossed the Jordan, and crowds of people again gathered about him, and again he taught them as he was accustomed to do.
