Paul, a bond-servant of Christ Jesus,

called as an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God,

Paul, called as an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,

The servants

It is like a man away on a journey, who upon leaving his house and putting his slaves in charge, assigning to each one his task, also commanded the doorkeeper to stay on the alert.

If anyone serves Me, he must follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also; if anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him.

Paul, a bond-servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, for the faith of those chosen of God and the knowledge of the truth which is according to godliness,

Then I fell at his feet to worship him. But he *said to me, “Do not do that; I am a fellow servant of yours and your brethren who hold the testimony of Jesus; worship God. For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

But he *said to me, “Do not do that. I am a fellow servant of yours and of your brethren the prophets and of those who heed the words of this book. Worship God.”

The bishops

“For it is written in the book of Psalms,
‘Let his homestead be made desolate,
And let no one dwell in it’;and,‘Let another man take his

office.’

It is a trustworthy statement: if any man aspires to the office of overseer, it is a fine work he desires to do.

For the

overseer must be above reproach as God’s steward, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not addicted to wine, not pugnacious, not fond of sordid gain,

For you were continually straying like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls.

As for the mystery of the seven stars which you saw in My right hand, and the seven golden lampstands: the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.

And deacons

Now at this time while the disciples were increasing in number, a complaint arose on the part of the

Hellenistic Jews against the native Hebrews, because their widows were being overlooked in the daily serving of food.

Deacons likewise must be men of dignity, not double-tongued,

or addicted to much wine

or fond of sordid gain,
