Psalm 78:2

He answered: "It is you and not they who are granted the privilege of knowing the secrets of the kingdom of heaven.

Jesus told the crowds all this in stories, and without a story He told them nothing,

He did not tell them anything except by stories, but to His own disciples He kept on privately explaining everything.

I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:

This is why I am speaking to them in stories, because they look but do not see, they listen but do not really hear or understand.

For nothing is ever hidden by people except for the purpose of having it known, and people do not keep secrets except to tell them.
