At sinabi ng mga matanda sa Jabes sa kaniya, Bigyan mo kami ng palugit na pitong araw upang kami ay makapagpasugo ng mga sugo sa lahat ng mga hangganan ng Israel; at kung wala ngang magliligtas sa amin, lalabasin ka namin.

The elders of Jabesh said to him, "Let us alone for seven days, that we may send messengers throughout the territory of Israel. Then, if there is no one to deliver us, we will come out to you."
