בְחִיד֜וֹת

with hard questions

､ בִּירֽוּשָׁלִַ֗ם

bî·rū·šā·lim,

to Jerusalem ､

､ בְּחַ֣יִל

bə·ḥa·yil

[having] a retinue ､

כָּבֵ֣ד

kā·ḇêḏ

מְאֹ֡ד

mə·’ōḏ

וּ֠גְמַלִּים

ū·ḡə·mal·lîm

נֹשְׂאִ֨ים

､ בְּשָׂמִ֧ים

וְזָהָ֛ב

and gold

､ לָרֹ֖ב

lā·rōḇ

in abundance ､

– וְאֶ֣בֶן

wə·’e·ḇen

and stones –

יְקָרָ֑ה

yə·qā·rāh;

וַתָּבוֹא֙

wat·tā·ḇō·w

and when she came

אֶל־

’el-

to

､ שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה

šə·lō·mōh,

וַתְּדַבֵּ֣ר

wat·tə·ḏab·bêr

עִמּ֔וֹ

‘im·mōw,

with him

אֵ֛ת

’êṯ

-

כָּל־

kāl-

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

הָיָ֖ה

hā·yāh

עִם־

in

. לְבָבָֽהּ׃

וַיַּגֶּד־

– דְּבָרֶ֑יהָ

of Solomon ､

וְהַבַּ֖יִת

and the house

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

､ בָּנָֽה׃

bā·nāh.

he had built ､

וּמַאֲכַ֣ל

ū·ma·’ă·ḵal

and the food on

､ שֻׁלְחָנ֡וֹ

šul·ḥā·nōw

וּמוֹשַׁ֣ב

ū·mō·wō·šaḇ

and the seating

､ עֲבָדָיו֩

‘ă·ḇā·ḏāw

of his servants ､

וּמַעֲמַ֨ד

ū·ma·‘ă·maḏ

and the service

､ מְשָׁרְתָ֜יו

mə·šā·rə·ṯāw

of his waiters ､

– וּמַלְבּֽוּשֵׁיהֶ֗ם

ū·mal·bū·šê·hem,

and their apparel –

וּמַשְׁקָיו֙

ū·maš·qāw

and his cupbearers

– וּמַלְבּ֣וּשֵׁיהֶ֔ם

ū·mal·bū·šê·hem,

and their apparel –

וַעֲלִיָּת֔וֹ

wa·‘ă·lî·yā·ṯōw,

and his entryway

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

יַעֲלֶ֖ה

ya·‘ă·leh

he went up

בֵּ֣ית

bêṯ

to the house

– יְהוָ֑ה

Yah·weh;

וְלֹא־

wə·lō-

and no

הָ֥יָה

hā·yāh

ע֛וֹד

בָּ֖הּ

in her

. רֽוּחַ׃

וַתֹּ֙אמֶר֙

wat·tō·mer

אֶל־

to

､ הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ

ham·me·leḵ,

the king ､

אֱמֶת֙

’ĕ·meṯ

[it was] a true

הַדָּבָ֔ר

had·dā·ḇār,

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

שָׁמַ֖עְתִּי

šā·ma‘·tî

בְּאַרְצִ֑י

bə·’ar·ṣî;

in my own land

עַל־

‘al-

､ דְּבָרֶ֖יךָ

də·ḇā·re·ḵā

וְעַל־

wə·‘al-

and

. חָכְמָתֶֽךָ׃

ḥā·ḵə·mā·ṯe·ḵā.

וְלֹֽא־

wə·lō-

And However not

הֶאֱמַ֣נְתִּי

he·’ĕ·man·tî

､ לְדִבְרֵיהֶ֗ם

lə·ḏiḇ·rê·hem,

their words ､

עַ֤ד

‘aḏ

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

､ בָּ֙אתִי֙

bā·ṯî

I came ､

וַתִּרְאֶ֣ינָה

wat·tir·’e·nāh

and saw

עֵינַ֔י

‘ê·nay,

with my own eyes

､ וְהִנֵּה֙

wə·hin·nêh

and indeed ､

לֹ֣א

lō

not

הֻגַּד־

hug·gaḏ-

לִ֔י

lî,

me

חֲצִ֖י

ḥă·ṣî

the half

מַרְבִּ֣ית

mar·bîṯ

of the greatness

חָכְמָתֶ֑ךָ

ḥā·ḵə·mā·ṯe·ḵā;

יָסַ֕פְתָּ

yā·sap̄·tā

עַל־

‘al-

on

הַשְּׁמוּעָ֖ה

haš·šə·mū·‘āh

the fame

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

. שָׁמָֽעְתִּי׃

אַשְׁרֵ֣י

’aš·rê

､ אֲנָשֶׁ֔יךָ

וְאַשְׁרֵ֖י

and happy [are]

､ עֲבָדֶ֣יךָ

‘ă·ḇā·ḏe·ḵā

your servants ､

אֵ֑לֶּה

’êl·leh;

הָעֹמְדִ֤ים

hā·‘ō·mə·ḏîm

לְפָנֶ֙יךָ֙

lə·p̄ā·ne·ḵā

תָּמִ֔יד

tā·mîḏ,

וְשֹׁמְעִ֖ים

wə·šō·mə·‘îm

and hear

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

. חָכְמָתֶֽךָ׃

יְהִ֨י

Be

יְהוָ֤ה

Yah·weh

､ אֱלֹהֶ֙יךָ֙

בָּר֔וּךְ

אֲשֶׁ֣ר ׀

חָפֵ֣ץ

בְּךָ֗

לְתִתְּךָ֤

עַל־

‘al-

､ כִּסְאוֹ֙

לְמֶ֔לֶךְ

[to be] king

לַיהוָ֖ה

Yah·weh

– אֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ

’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā;

בְּאַהֲבַ֨ת

bə·’a·hă·ḇaṯ

because has loved

אֱלֹהֶ֤יךָ

’ĕ·lō·he·ḵā

אֶת־

’eṯ-

､ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙

yiś·rā·’êl

לְהַעֲמִיד֣וֹ

lə·ha·‘ă·mî·ḏōw

to establish them

､ לְעוֹלָ֔ם

lə·‘ō·w·lām,

וַיִּתֶּנְךָ֤

way·yit·ten·ḵā

therefore He made you

עֲלֵיהֶם֙

‘ă·lê·hem

לְמֶ֔לֶךְ

lə·me·leḵ,

לַעֲשׂ֖וֹת

la·‘ă·śō·wṯ

to do

מִשְׁפָּ֥ט

miš·pāṭ

. וּצְדָקָֽה׃

ū·ṣə·ḏā·qāh.

and righteousness .

וַתִּתֵּ֨ן

wat·tit·tên

לַמֶּ֜לֶךְ

lam·me·leḵ

the king

מֵאָ֥ה

mê·’āh

וְעֶשְׂרִ֣ים ׀

wə·‘eś·rîm

כִּכַּ֣ר

kik·kar

､ זָהָ֗ב

zā·hāḇ,

of gold ､

וּבְשָׂמִ֛ים

ū·ḇə·śā·mîm

､ לָרֹ֥ב

and the servants

､ שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה

of Solomon ､

מֵאוֹפִ֑יר

וְאֶ֥בֶן

And made

הַ֠מֶּלֶךְ

the king

אֶת־

’eṯ-

עֲצֵ֨י

[of] wood

הָֽאַלְגּוּמִּ֜ים

hā·’al·gūm·mîm

מְסִלּ֤וֹת

mə·sil·lō·wṯ

לְבֵית־

lə·ḇêṯ-

､ יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

of Yahweh ､

､ וּלְבֵ֣ית

ū·lə·ḇêṯ

הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ

ham·me·leḵ,

of the king

וְכִנֹּר֥וֹת

wə·ḵin·nō·rō·wṯ

וּנְבָלִ֖ים

ū·nə·ḇā·lîm

and stringed instruments

– לַשָּׁרִ֑ים

laš·šā·rîm;

for singers –

וְלֹא־

wə·lō-

and none

נִרְא֥וּ

nir·’ū

there were seen

כָהֵ֛ם

ḵā·hêm

לְפָנִ֖ים

lə·p̄ā·nîm

בְּאֶ֥רֶץ

bə·’e·reṣ

in the land

. יְהוּדָֽה׃

yə·hū·ḏāh.

of Judah .

וְהַמֶּ֨לֶךְ

wə·ham·me·leḵ

And King

שְׁלֹמֹ֜ה

šə·lō·mōh

נָתַ֣ן

nā·ṯan

לְמַֽלְכַּת־

lə·mal·kaṯ-

to the queen

שְׁבָ֗א

šə·ḇā,

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

כָּל־

kāl-

､ חֶפְצָהּ֙

ḥep̄·ṣāh

she desired ､

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

､ שָׁאָ֔לָה

šā·’ā·lāh,

מִלְּבַ֖ד

mil·lə·ḇaḏ

[much more] than

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

הֵבִ֣יאָה

hê·ḇî·’āh

she had brought

אֶל־

’el-

to

. הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ

ham·me·leḵ;

the king .

､ וַֽתַּהֲפֹ֛ךְ

wat·ta·hă·p̄ōḵ

So she turned ､

וַתֵּ֥לֶךְ

wat·tê·leḵ

and went

､ לְאַרְצָ֖הּ

lə·’ar·ṣāh

to her own country ､

הִ֥יא

hî

. וַעֲבָדֶֽיהָ׃

wa·‘ă·ḇā·ḏe·hā.

and her servants .

that which the traders

הַתָּרִ֛ים

the traveling merchants

וְהַסֹּחֲרִ֖ים

[what] brought .

And all

of the country

the throne [had] ､

and with a footstool

､ בַּזָּהָ֤ב

baz·zā·hāḇ

of gold ､

､ לַכִּסֵּא֙

lak·kis·sê

to the throne ､

מָאֳחָזִ֔ים

mā·’o·ḥā·zîm,

[which were] fastened

וְיָד֛וֹת

wə·yā·ḏō·wṯ

and there were armrests

מִזֶּ֥ה

miz·zeh

וּמִזֶּ֖ה

ū·miz·zeh

and on this [side]

עַל־

‘al-

of

､ מְק֣וֹם

mə·qō·wm

the place of ､

הַשָּׁ֑בֶת

haš·šā·ḇeṯ;

the seat

וּשְׁנַ֣יִם

ū·šə·na·yim

and two

אֲרָי֔וֹת

’ă·rā·yō·wṯ,

עֹמְדִ֖ים

‘ō·mə·ḏîm

אֵ֥צֶל

’ê·ṣel

. הַיָּדֽוֹת׃

וּשְׁנֵ֧ים

And two

עָשָׂ֣ר

‘ā·śār

[and] ten

אֲרָי֗וֹת

’ă·rā·yō·wṯ,

עֹמְדִ֥ים

‘ō·mə·ḏîm

שָׁ֛ם

the steps .

מִזֶּ֣ה

and an this [side]

and apes ､

､ וּבְשָׂמִ֔ים

and spices ､

､ סוּסִ֖ים

､ וּפְרָדִ֑ים

[and] ten

אֶ֖לֶף

– פָּרָשִׁ֑ים

pā·rā·šîm;

וַיַּנִּיחֵם֙

way·yan·nî·ḥêm

and whom he stationed

､ בְּעָרֵ֣י

bə·‘ā·rê

in cities ､

הָרֶ֔כֶב

hā·re·ḵeḇ,

וְעִם־

wə·‘im-

and with

הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ

ham·me·leḵ

the king

. בִּירוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

bî·rū·šā·lim.

וַיְהִ֥י

way·hî

מוֹשֵׁ֖ל

mō·wō·šêl

בְּכָל־

bə·ḵāl

הַמְּלָכִ֑ים

ham·mə·lā·ḵîm;

מִן־

min-

הַנָּהָר֙

han·nā·hār

וְעַד־

wə·‘aḏ-

and to

אֶ֣רֶץ

’e·reṣ

the land

､ פְּלִשְׁתִּ֔ים

pə·liš·tîm,

of the Philistines ､

וְעַ֖ד

wə·‘aḏ

and as far as

גְּב֥וּל

gə·ḇūl

. מִצְרָֽיִם׃

miṣ·rā·yim.

of Egypt .

וַיִּתֵּ֨ן

way·yit·tên

And made

הַמֶּ֧לֶךְ

ham·me·leḵ

the king

אֶת־

’eṯ-

הַכֶּ֛סֶף

hak·ke·sep̄

בִּירוּשָׁלִַ֖ם

bî·rū·šā·lim

､ כָּאֲבָנִ֑ים

הָאֲרָזִ֗ים

hā·’ă·rā·zîm,

נָתַ֛ן

כַּשִּׁקְמִ֥ים

as the sycamores

אֲשֶׁר־

בַּשְּׁפֵלָ֖ה

in the lowland

וּמוֹצִיאִ֨ים

And they brought

סוּסִ֧ים

sū·sîm

מִמִּצְרַ֛יִם

mim·miṣ·ra·yim

לִשְׁלֹמֹ֖ה

וּמִכָּל־

ū·mik·kāl-

. הָאֲרָצֽוֹת׃
