[and] ten

שָׁנָ֔ה

šā·nāh,

the year

לַמֶּ֖לֶךְ

lam·me·leḵ

. צִדְקִיָּֽהוּ׃

ṣiḏ·qî·yā·hū.

בְּתִשְׁעָ֣ה

bə·ṯiš·‘āh

לַחֹ֔דֶשׁ

la·ḥō·ḏeš,

of the [fourth] month

וַיֶּחֱזַ֥ק

way·ye·ḥĕ·zaq

and had become so severe

הָרָעָ֖ב

hā·rā·‘āḇ

､ בָּעִ֑יר

bā·‘îr;

in the city ､

וְלֹא־

wə·lō-

הָ֥יָה

hā·yāh

לֶ֖חֶם

le·ḥem

לְעַ֥ם

lə·‘am

. הָאָֽרֶץ׃

hā·’ā·reṣ.

of the land .

､ וַתִּבָּקַ֣ע

wat·tib·bā·qa‘

And was broken through ､

הָעִ֗יר

hā·‘îr,

the city [wall]

וְכָל־

wə·ḵāl

and all

אַנְשֵׁ֨י

’an·šê

the men

הַמִּלְחָמָ֤ה ׀

ham·mil·ḥā·māh

of war

הַלַּ֙יְלָה֙

hal·lay·lāh

[fled] at night

דֶּ֜רֶךְ

de·reḵ

by way

שַׁ֣עַר ׀

ša·‘ar

of the gate

בֵּ֣ין

bên

､ הַחֹמֹתַ֗יִם

ha·ḥō·mō·ṯa·yim,

אֲשֶׁר֙

’ă·šer

עַל־

‘al-

by

､ גַּ֣ן

gan

הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ

ham·me·leḵ,

וְכַשְׂדִּ֥ים

wə·ḵaś·dîm

and even though the Chaldeans

עַל־

‘al-

[were] still encamped against

הָעִ֖יר

hā·‘îr

the city

סָבִ֑יב

sā·ḇîḇ;

וַיֵּ֖לֶךְ

way·yê·leḵ

and [the king] went

דֶּ֥רֶךְ

de·reḵ

by way

. הָעֲרָבָֽה׃

hā·‘ă·rā·ḇāh.

of the plain .

וַיִּרְדְּפ֤וּ

way·yir·də·p̄ū

חֵיל־

ḥêl-

the army

כַּשְׂדִּים֙

kaś·dîm

of the Chaldeans

אַחַ֣ר

’a·ḥar

､ הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ

ham·me·leḵ,

the king ､

וַיַּשִּׂ֥גוּ

way·yaś·śi·ḡū

and they overtook

אֹת֖וֹ

’ō·ṯōw

בְּעַרְב֣וֹת

bə·‘ar·ḇō·wṯ

in the plains

– יְרֵח֑וֹ

yə·rê·ḥōw;

of Jericho –

וְכָל־

wə·ḵāl

and all

חֵיל֔וֹ

ḥê·lōw,

נָפֹ֖צוּ

nā·p̄ō·ṣū

. מֵעָלָֽיו׃

mê·‘ā·lāw.

וַֽיִּתְפְּשׂוּ֙

way·yiṯ·pə·śū

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ

ham·me·leḵ,

the king ､

וַיַּעֲל֥וּ

way·ya·‘ă·lū

and brought up

אֹת֛וֹ

’ō·ṯōw

אֶל־

’el-

to

מֶ֥לֶךְ

me·leḵ

the king

בָּבֶ֖ל

bā·ḇel

– רִבְלָ֑תָה

riḇ·lā·ṯāh;

at Riblah –

וַיְדַבְּר֥וּ

way·ḏab·bə·rū

and they pronounced

אִתּ֖וֹ

’it·tōw

on him

. מִשְׁפָּֽט׃

miš·pāṭ.

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

And

בְּנֵי֙

bə·nê

the sons

צִדְקִיָּ֔הוּ

ṣiḏ·qî·yā·hū,

שָׁחֲט֖וּ

šā·ḥă·ṭū

､ לְעֵינָ֑יו

lə·‘ê·nāw;

before his eyes ､

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

עֵינֵ֤י

‘ê·nê

the eyes

､ צִדְקִיָּ֙הוּ֙

ṣiḏ·qî·yā·hū

of Zedekiah ､

עִוֵּ֔ר

‘iw·wêr,

וַיַּאַסְרֵ֙הוּ֙

way·ya·’as·rê·hū

､ בַֽנְחֻשְׁתַּ֔יִם

ḇan·ḥuš·ta·yim,

with bronze fetters ､

וַיְבִאֵ֖הוּ

way·ḇi·’ê·hū

carried away captive .

נְבוּזַרְאֲדָ֖ן

But [some] of the poor

הָאָ֔רֶץ

טַבָּחִ֑ים

of the guard

לְכֹֽרְמִ֖ים

as vinedressers

. וּלְיֹגְבִֽים׃

ū·lə·yō·ḡə·ḇîm.

וְאֶת־

And

עַמּוּדֵ֨י

‘am·mū·ḏê

הַנְּחֹ֜שֶׁת

han·nə·ḥō·šeṯ

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

in the house

､ יְהוָ֗ה

in the house

וַיִּשְׂא֥וּ

And also

､ הַסִּירֹ֨ת

the pots ､

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

､ הַיָּעִ֜ים

hay·yā·‘îm

the shovels ､

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

､ הַֽמְזַמְּר֣וֹת

ham·zam·mə·rō·wṯ

the trimmers ､

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

､ הַכַּפּ֗וֹת

hak·kap·pō·wṯ,

the spoons ､

וְאֵ֨ת

wə·’êṯ

and

כָּל־

kāl-

כְּלֵ֧י

kə·lê

הַנְּחֹ֛שֶׁת

han·nə·ḥō·šeṯ

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

with which

､ יְשָֽׁרְתוּ־

yə·šā·rə·ṯū-

the priests ministered ､

בָ֖ם

ḇām

. לָקָֽחוּ׃

lā·qā·ḥū.

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

And

､ הַמַּחְתּוֹת֙

ham·maḥ·tō·wṯ

the firepans ､

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

､ הַמִּזְרָק֗וֹת

ham·miz·rā·qō·wṯ,

the basins ､

אֲשֶׁ֤ר

’ă·šer

､ זָהָב֙

zā·hāḇ

of gold ､

､ זָהָ֔ב

zā·hāḇ,

וַאֲשֶׁר־

wa·’ă·šer-

and

､ כֶּ֖סֶף

ke·sep̄

､ כָּ֑סֶף

kā·sep̄;

לָקַ֖ח

lā·qaḥ

רַב־

raḇ-

. טַבָּחִֽים׃

of the guard .

､ הָעַמּוּדִ֣ים ׀

The pillars ､

שְׁנַ֗יִם

šə·na·yim,

､ הַיָּ֤ם

hay·yām

Sea ､

הָֽאֶחָד֙

hā·’e·ḥāḏ

וְהַמְּכֹנ֔וֹת

wə·ham·mə·ḵō·nō·wṯ,

and the carts

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

עָשָׂ֥ה

‘ā·śāh

שְׁלֹמֹ֖ה

לְבֵ֣ית

lə·ḇêṯ

– יְהוָ֑ה

Yah·weh;

of Yahweh –

לֹא־

miš·qāl,

[beyond] measure .

לִנְחֹ֖שֶׁת

lin·ḥō·šeṯ

כָּל־

of all

הַכֵּלִ֥ים

. הָאֵֽלֶּה׃

שְׁמֹנֶה֩

[was] [and] ten

､ אַמָּ֜ה

קוֹמַ֣ת ׀

הָעַמּ֣וּד

וְכֹתֶ֨רֶת

and the capital

עָלָ֥יו ׀

‘ā·lāw

on it

– נְחֹשֶׁת֮

nə·ḥō·šeṯ

[was] of bronze –

וְקוֹמַ֣ת

wə·qō·w·maṯ

and the height

הַכֹּתֶרֶת֮

hak·kō·ṯe·reṯ

of the capital

שָׁלֹ֣שׁ

šā·lōš

[אמה]

’am·māh

– (אַמּוֹת֒)

’am·mō·wṯ

､ וּשְׂבָכָ֨ה

ū·śə·ḇā·ḵāh

and the network ､

וְרִמֹּנִ֧ים

wə·rim·mō·nîm

and pomegranates

עַֽל־

‘al-

on

הַכֹּתֶ֛רֶת

hak·kō·ṯe·reṯ

､ סָבִ֖יב

הַכֹּ֣ל

. נְחֹ֑שֶׁת

were of bronze .

וְכָאֵ֛לֶּה

And as these

וַיִּקַּ֣ח

And took

､ כֹּהֵ֣ן

the army ､

הַמַּצְבִּ֖א

､ הָאָ֑רֶץ

of the land ､

וְשִׁשִּׁ֥ים

אִישׁ֙

of the land

הַֽנִּמְצְאִ֖ים

[who were] found

in the city .

וַיִּקַּ֣ח

way·yiq·qaḥ

אֹתָ֔ם

’ō·ṯām,

נְבוּזַרְאֲדָ֖ן

nə·ḇū·zar·’ă·ḏān

רַב־

raḇ-

טַבָּחִ֑ים

ṭab·bā·ḥîm;

of the guard

וַיֹּ֧לֶךְ

אֹתָ֛ם

וַיִּ֥גֶל

Thus was carried away captive

יְהוּדָ֖ה

מֵעַ֥ל

. אַדְמָתֽוֹ׃

’aḏ·mā·ṯōw.

Gedaliah Made Governor of Judah

וְהָעָ֗ם

wə·hā·‘ām,

And the people

הַנִּשְׁאָר֙

han·niš·’ār

בְּאֶ֣רֶץ

bə·’e·reṣ

in the land

､ יְהוּדָ֔ה

yə·hū·ḏāh,

of Judah ､

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

､ הִשְׁאִ֔יר

hiš·’îr,

נְבֽוּכַדְנֶאצַּ֖ר

nə·ḇū·ḵaḏ·neṣ·ṣar

מֶ֣לֶךְ

. וַיַּפְקֵ֣ד

and he made governor .

And took an oath

לָהֶ֤ם

גְּדַלְיָ֙הוּ֙

gə·ḏal·yā·hū

､ וּלְאַנְשֵׁיהֶ֔ם

ū·lə·’an·šê·hem,

and their men ､

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר

way·yō·mer

and said

לָהֶ֔ם

lā·hem,

אַל־

’al-

not

תִּֽירְא֖וּ

tî·rə·’ū

do be afraid

מֵעַבְדֵ֣י

mê·‘aḇ·ḏê

of the servants

– הַכַּשְׂדִּ֑ים

hak·kaś·dîm;

of the Chaldeans –

שְׁב֣וּ

šə·ḇū

､ בָאָ֗רֶץ

ḇā·’ā·reṣ,

in the land ､

וְעִבְד֛וּ

wə·‘iḇ·ḏū

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

מֶ֥לֶךְ

me·leḵ

the king

– בָּבֶ֖ל

bā·ḇel

of Babylon –

וְיִטַ֥ב

wə·yi·ṭaḇ

and it shall be well

. לָכֶֽם׃

lā·ḵem.

with you .

But it came to pass

､ בַּחֹ֣דֶשׁ

ba·ḥō·ḏeš

in the month ､

הַשְּׁבִיעִ֗י

haš·šə·ḇî·‘î,

､ בָּ֣א

bā

יִשְׁמָעֵ֣אל

yiš·mā·‘êl

בֶּן־

ben-

､ נְ֠תַנְיָה

nə·ṯan·yāh

of Nethaniah ､

בֶּן־

ben-

the son

､ אֱלִ֨ישָׁמָ֜ע

’ĕ·lî·šā·mā‘

of Elishama ､

מִזֶּ֣רַע

miz·ze·ra‘

､ הַמְּלוּכָ֗ה

ham·mə·lū·ḵāh,

the royal ､

וַעֲשָׂרָ֤ה

wa·‘ă·śā·rāh

and with ten

אֲנָשִׁים֙

’ă·nā·šîm

אִתּ֔וֹ

’it·tōw,

with him

וַיַּכּ֥וּ

way·yak·kū

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ גְּדַלְיָ֖הוּ

gə·ḏal·yā·hū

､ וַיָּמֹ֑ת

way·yā·mōṯ;

and killed ､

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and

הַיְּהוּדִים֙

hay·yə·hū·ḏîm

the Jews

וְאֶת־

wə·’eṯ-

and as well as

הַכַּשְׂדִּ֔ים

hak·kaś·dîm,

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

הָי֥וּ

hā·yū

אִתּ֖וֹ

’it·tōw

with him

. בַּמִּצְפָּֽה׃

bam·miṣ·pāh.

､ וַיָּקֻ֨מוּ

way·yā·qu·mū

And arose ､

כָל־

ḵāl

､ הָעָ֜ם

hā·‘ām

the people ､

מִקָּטֹ֤ן

miq·qā·ṭōn

וְעַד־

wə·‘aḏ-

and

､ גָּדוֹל֙

gā·ḏō·wl

וְשָׂרֵ֣י

wə·śā·rê

and the captains

､ הַחֲיָלִ֔ים

ha·ḥă·yā·lîm,

of the armies ､

וַיָּבֹ֖אוּ

way·yā·ḇō·’ū

and went

– מִצְרָ֑יִם

miṣ·rā·yim;

to Egypt –

כִּ֥י

kî

יָרְא֖וּ

yā·rə·’ū

they were afraid

מִפְּנֵ֥י

mip·pə·nê

of

. כַשְׂדִּֽים׃

ḵaś·dîm.

לְגָלוּת֙

lə·ḡā·lūṯ

of the captivity

יְהוֹיָכִ֣ין

yə·hō·w·yā·ḵîn

מֶֽלֶךְ־

me·leḵ-

､ יְהוּדָ֔ה

yə·hū·ḏāh,

of Judah ､

בִּשְׁנֵ֤ים

biš·nêm

in two

עָשָׂר֙

‘ā·śār

[and] ten

､ חֹ֔דֶשׁ

ḥō·ḏeš,

the month ､

בְּעֶשְׂרִ֥ים

bə·‘eś·rîm

on the twenty

וְשִׁבְעָ֖ה

wə·šiḇ·‘āh

and seven [day]

､ לַחֹ֑דֶשׁ

la·ḥō·ḏeš;

of the month ､

נָשָׂ֡א

nā·śā

אֱוִ֣יל

’ĕ·wîl

-

מְרֹדַךְ֩

mə·rō·ḏaḵ

[that] Evil-merodach

מֶ֨לֶךְ

me·leḵ

בָּבֶ֜ל

bā·ḇel

בִּשְׁנַ֣ת

biš·naṯ

in the year

מָלְכ֗וֹ

mā·lə·ḵōw,

that he began to reign

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

רֹ֛אשׁ

rōš

the head

יְהוֹיָכִ֥ין

yə·hō·w·yā·ḵîn

מֶֽלֶךְ־

me·leḵ-

יְהוּדָ֖ה

yə·hū·ḏāh

מִבֵּ֥ית

mib·bêṯ

. כֶּֽלֶא׃

וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר

way·ḏab·bêr

And He spoke

אִתּ֖וֹ

’it·tōw

to him

טֹב֑וֹת

ṭō·ḇō·wṯ;

וַיִּתֵּן֙

way·yit·tên

and gave

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

כִּסְא֔וֹ

kis·’ōw,

מֵעַ֗ל

mê·‘al,

more prominent than

כִּסֵּ֧א

kis·sê

הַמְּלָכִ֛ים

ham·mə·lā·ḵîm

of the kings

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

אִתּ֖וֹ

’it·tōw

with him

– בְּבָבֶֽל׃

bə·ḇā·ḇel.

in Babylon –

וְשִׁנָּ֕א

wə·šin·nā

so Jehoiachin changed

אֵ֖ת

’êṯ

-

– בִּגְדֵ֣י

biḡ·ḏê

from garments –

כִלְא֑וֹ

ḵil·’ōw;

וְאָכַ֨ל

wə·’ā·ḵal

and he ate

לֶ֧חֶם

le·ḥem

תָּמִ֛יד

tā·mîḏ

לְפָנָ֖יו

lə·p̄ā·nāw

before the [king]

כָּל־

kāl-

יְמֵ֥י

yə·mê

the days

. חַיָּֽיו׃

ḥay·yāw.

וַאֲרֻחָת֗וֹ

wa·’ă·ru·ḥā·ṯōw,

And as for his provisions

אֲרֻחַ֨ת

’ă·ru·ḥaṯ

[there was] ration

תָּמִ֧יד

tā·mîḏ

נִתְּנָה־

nit·tə·nāh-

לּ֛וֹ

lōw

מֵאֵ֥ת

mê·’êṯ

by

､ הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ

ham·me·leḵ

the king ､

דְּבַר־

də·ḇar-

י֣וֹם

yō·wm

､ בְּיוֹמ֑וֹ

bə·yō·w·mōw;

for each day ､

כֹּ֖ל

kōl

יְמֵ֥י

yə·mê

the days

. חַיָּֽו׃

ḥay·yāw.
