of fine flour [shall be sold]

for a shekel ､

וְסָאתַ֧יִם

שְׂעֹרִ֛ים

Look ､

יְהוָ֗ה

עֹשֶׂ֤ה

[if] would make

אֲרֻבּוֹת֙

’ă·rub·bō·wṯ

､ בַּשָּׁמַ֔יִם

baš·šā·ma·yim,

in heaven ､

؟ הֲיִהְיֶ֖ה

hă·yih·yeh

could be ؟

הַדָּבָ֣ר

had·dā·ḇār

הַזֶּ֑ה

haz·zeh;

､ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר

way·yō·mer,

and he said ､

הִנְּכָ֤ה

hin·nə·ḵāh

רֹאֶה֙

rō·’eh

you shall see [it]

､ בְּעֵינֶ֔יךָ

bə·‘ê·ne·ḵā,

with your eyes ､

. וּמִשָּׁ֖ם

but of it .

we will enter

､ הָעִ֜יר

the city ､

וְהָרָעָ֤ב

wə·hā·rā·‘āḇ

and the famine [is]

､ בָּעִיר֙

bā·‘îr

in the city ､

וָמַ֣תְנוּ

wā·maṯ·nū

and we shall die

– שָׁ֔ם

šām,

וְאִם־

wə·’im-

and if

יָשַׁ֥בְנוּ

yā·šaḇ·nū

we sit

､ פֹ֖ה

p̄ōh

here ､

וָמָ֑תְנוּ

wā·mā·ṯə·nū;

and we die

וְעַתָּ֗ה

wə·‘at·tāh,

､ לְכוּ֙

lə·ḵū

come ､

וְנִפְּלָה֙

wə·nip·pə·lāh

and let us surrender

אֶל־

’el-

to

מַחֲנֵ֣ה

ma·ḥă·nêh

the army

. אֲרָ֔ם

’ă·rām,

of Syria .

אִם־

’im-

If

､ יְחַיֻּ֣נוּ

yə·ḥay·yu·nū

they keep us alive ､

– נִֽחְיֶ֔ה

niḥ·yeh,

we shall live –

וְאִם־

wə·’im-

and if

יְמִיתֻ֖נוּ

yə·mî·ṯu·nū

. וָמָֽתְנוּ׃

wā·mā·ṯə·nū.

and we shall only die .

וַיָּק֣וּמוּ

way·yā·qū·mū

､ בַנֶּ֔שֶׁף

at twilight ､

their tents ､

､ סֽוּסֵיהֶם֙

their horses ､

､ חֲמֹ֣רֵיהֶ֔ם

their donkeys ､

הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֖ה

the camp

כַּאֲשֶׁר־

הִ֑יא

hî;

it [was]

וַיָּנֻ֖סוּ

אֶל־

. נַפְשָֽׁם׃

וַיָּבֹאוּ֩

הַֽמְצֹרָעִ֨ים

and ate

and drank ､

וַיִּשְׂא֣וּ

מִשָּׁ֗ם

miš·šām,

､ כֶּ֤סֶף

､ וְזָהָב֙

wə·zā·hāḇ

and gold ､

､ וּבְגָדִ֔ים

ū·ḇə·ḡā·ḏîm,

and clothing ､

וַיֵּלְכ֖וּ

way·yê·lə·ḵū

and went

וַיַּטְמִ֑נוּ

way·yaṭ·mi·nū;

and hid [them]

､ וַיָּשֻׁ֗בוּ

way·yā·šu·ḇū,

then they came back ､

וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙

way·yā·ḇō·’ū

אֶל־

’el-

､ אֹ֣הֶל

’ō·hel

tent ､

אַחֵ֔ר

’a·ḥêr,

וַיִּשְׂא֣וּ

way·yiś·’ū

and [also] carried [some]

מִשָּׁ֔ם

miš·šām,

וַיֵּלְכ֖וּ

way·yê·lə·ḵū

and went

. וַיַּטְמִֽנוּ׃

way·yaṭ·mi·nū.

and hid [it] .

וַיֹּאמְרוּ֩

וְחִכִּ֛ינוּ

and if we wait

עַד־

､ א֥וֹר

הַבֹּ֖קֶר

hab·bō·qer

וּמְצָאָ֣נוּ

ū·mə·ṣā·’ā·nū

and will come upon us

עָו֑וֹן

‘ā·wō·wn;

some punishment

וְעַתָּה֙

wə·‘at·tāh

､ לְכ֣וּ

lə·ḵū

come ､

וְנָבֹ֔אָה

wə·nā·ḇō·’āh,

and let us go

וְנַגִּ֖ידָה

wə·nag·gî·ḏāh

and tell

בֵּ֥ית

bêṯ

. הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃

of the king .

וַיָּבֹ֗אוּ

and we shall catch them

וְאֶל־

and into

הָעִ֖יר

hā·‘îr

the city

. נָבֹֽא׃

nā·ḇō.

וַיַּעַן֩

way·ya·‘an

אֶחָ֨ד

’e·ḥāḏ

מֵעֲבָדָ֜יו

mê·‘ă·ḇā·ḏāw

of his servants

､ וַיֹּ֗אמֶר

way·yō·mer,

and said ､

､ וְיִקְחוּ־

wə·yiq·ḥū-

and let several [men] take ､

､ נָ֞א

חֲמִשָּׁ֣ה

מִן־

of

הַסּוּסִים֮

has·sū·sîm

､ הַֽנִּשְׁאָרִים֮

han·niš·’ā·rîm

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

נִשְׁאֲרוּ־

בָהּ֒

､ הִנָּ֗ם

hin·nām,

Look they [may either become] ､

כְּכָל־

kə·ḵāl-

[ההמון]

he·hā·mō·wn

(הֲמ֤וֹן)

hă·mō·wn

the multitude of

יִשְׂרָאֵל֙

yiś·rā·’êl

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

נִשְׁאֲרוּ־

niš·’ă·rū-

בָ֔הּ

in it

הִנָּ֕ם

or indeed [I say] they [may become]

כְּכָל־

הֲמ֥וֹן

יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל

of the Israel

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

left from those who

תָּ֑מּוּ

tām·mū;

וְנִשְׁלְחָ֖ה

wə·niš·lə·ḥāh

so let us send them

. וְנִרְאֶֽה׃

wə·nir·’eh.

and see .

וַיִּקְח֕וּ

way·yiq·ḥū

Therefore they took

שְׁנֵ֖י

רֶ֣כֶב

re·ḵeḇ

– סוּסִ֑ים

sū·sîm;

וַיִּשְׁלַ֨ח

way·yiš·laḥ

הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ

ham·me·leḵ

the king

אַחֲרֵ֧י

in the direction

מַחֲנֵֽה־

ma·ḥă·nêh-

､ אֲרָ֛ם

’ă·rām

of Syria ､

､ לֵאמֹ֖ר

לְכ֥וּ

. וּרְאֽוּ׃

and see .

וַיֵּלְכ֣וּ

אַחֲרֵיהֶם֮

､ הַיַּרְדֵּן֒

the Jordan ､

､ וְהִנֵּ֣ה

wə·hin·nêh

and indeed ､

כָל־

ḵāl

הַדֶּ֗רֶךְ

had·de·reḵ,

the road

מְלֵאָ֤ה

mə·lê·’āh

בְגָדִים֙

ḇə·ḡā·ḏîm

､ וְכֵלִ֔ים

wə·ḵê·lîm,

and weapons ､

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

הִשְׁלִ֥יכוּ

hiš·lî·ḵū

had thrown away

אֲרָ֖ם

’ă·rām

[בהחפזם]

bə·hê·ḥā·p̄ə·zām

-

. (בְּחָפְזָ֑ם)

bə·ḥā·p̄ə·zām;

in their haste .

､ וַיָּשֻׁ֙בוּ֙

way·yā·šu·ḇū

So returned ､

הַמַּלְאָכִ֔ים

ham·mal·’ā·ḵîm,

וַיַּגִּ֖דוּ

way·yag·gi·ḏū

and told

. לַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃

lam·me·leḵ.

the king .

､ וַיֵּצֵ֣א

way·yê·ṣê

And went out ､

הָעָ֔ם

hā·‘ām,

וַיָּבֹ֕זּוּ

way·yā·ḇōz·zū

אֵ֖ת

’êṯ

-

מַחֲנֵ֣ה

ma·ḥă·nêh

. אֲרָ֑ם

’ă·rām;

of Syria .

וַיְהִ֨י

way·hî

So was

סְאָה־

in the gate ､

､ וַיָּמֹ֑ת

and he died ､

יִהְיֶה֙

shall be [sold]

וַיַּ֨עַן

And had answered

הַשָּׁלִ֜ישׁ

the man

､ הָאֱלֹהִים֮

of God ､

､ וַיֹּאמַר֒

and said ､

and look ､

יְהוָ֗ה

’ō·ṯōw

הָעָ֛ם

hā·‘ām

､ בַּשַּׁ֖עַר

baš·ša·‘ar

in the gate ､

. וַיָּמֹֽת׃

way·yā·mōṯ.

and he died .
