בִּשְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים

In the thirtieth

､ שָׁנָ֗ה

šā·nāh,

year ､

בָּֽרְבִיעִי֙

bā·rə·ḇî·‘î

in the fourth [month]

בַּחֲמִשָּׁ֣ה

ba·ḥă·miš·šāh

､ לַחֹ֔דֶשׁ

la·ḥō·ḏeš,

of the month ､

וַאֲנִ֥י

wa·’ă·nî

and as I [was]

בְתֽוֹךְ־

ḇə·ṯō·wḵ-

הַגּוֹלָ֖ה

hag·gō·w·lāh

עַל־

‘al-

by

נְהַר־

nə·har-

､ כְּבָ֑ר

kə·ḇār;

､ נִפְתְּחוּ֙

nip̄·tə·ḥū

[that] were opened ､

הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם

haš·šā·ma·yim,

וָאֶרְאֶ֖ה

wā·’er·’eh

and I saw

מַרְא֥וֹת

mar·’ō·wṯ

. אֱלֹהִֽים׃

’ĕ·lō·hîm.

of God .

בַּחֲמִשָּׁ֖ה

ba·ḥă·miš·šāh

､ לַחֹ֑דֶשׁ

la·ḥō·ḏeš;

of the month ､

הִ֚יא

hî

הַשָּׁנָ֣ה

haš·šā·nāh

in the year

הַחֲמִישִׁ֔ית

ha·ḥă·mî·šîṯ,

､ לְגָל֖וּת

lə·ḡā·lūṯ

of captivity ､

הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ

. יוֹיָכִֽין׃

Vision of Four Cherubim

､ וָאֵ֡רֶא

wā·’ê·re

And I looked ､

､ וְהִנֵּה֩

wə·hin·nêh

and behold ､

ר֨וּחַ

rū·aḥ

סְעָרָ֜ה

sə·‘ā·rāh

בָּאָ֣ה

bā·’āh

מִן־

min-

､ הַצָּפ֗וֹן

haṣ·ṣā·p̄ō·wn,

of the north ､

､ עָנָ֤ן

‘ā·nān

a cloud ､

גָּדוֹל֙

gā·ḏō·wl

וְאֵ֣שׁ

wə·’êš

and with [raging] fire

､ מִתְלַקַּ֔חַת

miṯ·laq·qa·ḥaṯ,

engulfing itself ､

וְנֹ֥גַֽהּ

wə·nō·ḡah

and brightness [was]

ל֖וֹ

lōw

it

סָבִ֑יב

sā·ḇîḇ;

וּמִ֨תּוֹכָ֔הּ

ū·mit·tō·w·ḵāh,

and radiating out of its midst

כְּעֵ֥ין

kə·‘ên

､ הַחַשְׁמַ֖ל

ha·ḥaš·mal

of amber ､

מִתּ֥וֹךְ

mit·tō·wḵ

out of the midst

. הָאֵֽשׁ׃

hā·’êš.

of the fire .

וּמִ֨תּוֹכָ֔הּ

ū·mit·tō·w·ḵāh,

And from within it

דְּמ֖וּת

də·mūṯ

[came] the likeness

אַרְבַּ֣ע

’ar·ba‘

. חַיּ֑וֹת

ḥay·yō·wṯ;

living creatures .

וְזֶה֙

wə·zeh

And this [was]

– מַרְאֵֽיהֶ֔ן

mar·’ê·hen,

their appearance –

דְּמ֥וּת

də·mūṯ

אָדָ֖ם

’ā·ḏām

of a man

. לָהֵֽנָּה׃

lā·hên·nāh.

וְאַרְבָּעָ֥ה

wə·’ar·bā·‘āh

And four

､ פָנִ֖ים

p̄ā·nîm

לְאֶחָ֑ת

lə·’e·ḥāṯ;

וְאַרְבַּ֥ע

wə·’ar·ba‘

and four

כְּנָפַ֖יִם

kə·nā·p̄a·yim

לְאַחַ֥ת

lə·’a·ḥaṯ

. לָהֶֽם׃

lā·hem.

to .

וְרַגְלֵיהֶ֖ם

wə·raḡ·lê·hem

And their legs [were]

– רֶ֣גֶל

re·ḡel

feet –

יְשָׁרָ֑ה

yə·šā·rāh;

וְכַ֣ף

wə·ḵap̄

and the soles

רַגְלֵיהֶ֗ם

raḡ·lê·hem,

כְּכַף֙

kə·ḵap̄

[were] like the soles

– רֶ֣גֶל

re·ḡel

of feet –

עֵ֔גֶל

‘ê·ḡel,

וְנֹ֣צְצִ֔ים

wə·nō·ṣə·ṣîm,

and they sparkled

כְּעֵ֖ין

kə·‘ên

נְחֹ֥שֶׁת

nə·ḥō·šeṯ

. קָלָֽל׃

qā·lāl.

[וידו]

wə·yā·ḏōw

-

(וִידֵ֣י)

wî·ḏê

The hands of

אָדָ֗ם

’ā·ḏām,

מִתַּ֙חַת֙

mit·ta·ḥaṯ

כַּנְפֵיהֶ֔ם

kan·p̄ê·hem,

עַ֖ל

‘al

on

אַרְבַּ֣עַת

’ar·ba·‘aṯ

– רִבְעֵיהֶ֑ם

riḇ·‘ê·hem;

their sides –

וּפְנֵיהֶ֥ם

ū·p̄ə·nê·hem

וְכַנְפֵיהֶ֖ם

wə·ḵan·p̄ê·hem

. לְאַרְבַּעְתָּֽם׃

lə·’ar·ba‘·tām.

had the four .

חֹֽבְרֹ֛ת

ḥō·ḇə·rōṯ

אִשָּׁ֥ה

’iš·šāh

אֶל־

’el-

– אֲחוֹתָ֖הּ

’ă·ḥō·w·ṯāh

כַּנְפֵיהֶ֑ם

kan·p̄ê·hem;

לֹא־

lō-

not

יִסַּ֣בּוּ

yis·sab·bū

[The creatures] did turn

– בְלֶכְתָּ֔ן

ḇə·leḵ·tān,

when they went –

אִ֛ישׁ

’îš

אֶל־

’el-

to

עֵ֥בֶר

‘ê·ḇer

פָּנָ֖יו

pā·nāw

. יֵלֵֽכוּ׃

yê·lê·ḵū.

but went .

וּדְמ֣וּת

ū·ḏə·mūṯ

And as for the likeness

､ פְּנֵיהֶם֮

pə·nê·hem

of their faces ､

פְּנֵ֣י

pə·nê

[each] had the face

､ אָדָם֒

’ā·ḏām

of a man ､

וּפְנֵ֨י

ū·p̄ə·nê

and the face

､ אַרְיֵ֤ה

’ar·yêh

of a lion ､

אֶל־

’el-

on

– הַיָּמִין֙

hay·yā·mîn

the right side –

לְאַרְבַּעְתָּ֔ם

lə·’ar·ba‘·tām,

וּפְנֵי־

ū·p̄ə·nê-

and the face

שׁ֥וֹר

šō·wr

of an ox

– מֵֽהַשְּׂמֹ֖אול

mê·haś·śə·mō·wl

on the left side –

לְאַרְבַּעְתָּ֑ן

lə·’ar·ba‘·tān;

וּפְנֵי־

ū·p̄ə·nê-

and the face

נֶ֖שֶׁר

ne·šer

of an eagle

. לְאַרְבַּעְתָּֽן׃

lə·’ar·ba‘·tān.

had the four .

. וּפְנֵיהֶ֕ם

ū·p̄ə·nê·hem

Thus [were] their faces .

וְכַנְפֵיהֶ֥ם

wə·ḵan·p̄ê·hem

And their wings

פְּרֻד֖וֹת

pə·ru·ḏō·wṯ

– מִלְמָ֑עְלָה

mil·mā·‘ə·lāh;

לְאִ֗ישׁ

lə·’îš,

שְׁ֚תַּיִם

ta·yim

חֹבְר֣וֹת

ḥō·ḇə·rō·wṯ

､ אִ֔ישׁ

’îš,

one another ､

וּשְׁתַּ֣יִם

ū·šə·ta·yim

and two

מְכַסּ֔וֹת

mə·ḵas·sō·wṯ,

אֵ֖ת

’êṯ

-

. גְּוִיֹתֵיהֶֽנָה׃‪‬

gə·wi·yō·ṯê·he·nāh

וְאִ֛ישׁ

wə·’îš

אֶל־

’el-

עֵ֥בֶר

‘ê·ḇer

– פָּנָ֖יו

pā·nāw

יֵלֵ֑כוּ

yê·lê·ḵū;

אֶ֣ל

’el

אֲשֶׁר֩

’ă·šer

יִֽהְיֶה־

yih·yeh-

שָׁ֨מָּה

הָר֤וּחַ

hā·rū·aḥ

､ לָלֶ֙כֶת֙

lā·le·ḵeṯ

to go ､

– יֵלֵ֔כוּ

yê·lê·ḵū,

לֹ֥א

not

יִסַּ֖בּוּ

yis·sab·bū

and they did turn

. בְּלֶכְתָּֽן׃

bə·leḵ·tān.

when they went .

וּדְמ֨וּת

ū·ḏə·mūṯ

And as for the likeness

､ הַחַיּ֜וֹת

ha·ḥay·yō·wṯ

of the living creatures ､

מַרְאֵיהֶ֣ם

mar·’ê·hem

their appearance

כְּגַחֲלֵי־

kə·ḡa·ḥă·lê-

､ אֵ֗שׁ

’êš,

of fire ､

בֹּֽעֲרוֹת֙

bō·‘ă·rō·wṯ

כְּמַרְאֵ֣ה

kə·mar·’êh

like the appearance

– הַלַּפִּדִ֔ים

hal·lap·pi·ḏîm,

of torches –

הִ֕יא

hî

מִתְהַלֶּ֖כֶת

miṯ·hal·le·ḵeṯ

going back and forth

בֵּ֣ין

bên

– הַחַיּ֑וֹת

ha·ḥay·yō·wṯ;

the living creatures –

､ וְנֹ֣גַהּ

wə·nō·ḡah

and bright ､

לָאֵ֔שׁ

lā·’êš,

וּמִן־

ū·min-

and out

הָאֵ֖שׁ

hā·’êš

of the fire

יוֹצֵ֥א

yō·w·ṣê

. בָרָֽק׃

ḇā·rāq.

וְהַחַיּ֖וֹת

wə·ha·ḥay·yō·wṯ

And the living creatures

רָצ֣וֹא

rā·ṣō·w

וָשׁ֑וֹב

wā·šō·wḇ;

כְּמַרְאֵ֖ה

kə·mar·’êh

like in appearance

. הַבָּזָֽק׃

hab·bā·zāq.

a [flash] of lightning .

Vision of the Four Wheels

וָאֵ֖רֶא

wā·’ê·re

And as I looked at

､ הַחַיּ֑וֹת

ha·ḥay·yō·wṯ;

the living creatures ､

וְהִנֵּה֩

wə·hin·nêh

אוֹפַ֨ן

’ō·w·p̄an

אֶחָ֥ד

’e·ḥāḏ

a

בָּאָ֛רֶץ

bā·’ā·reṣ

on the earth

אֵ֥צֶל

’ê·ṣel

､ הַחַיּ֖וֹת

ha·ḥay·yō·wṯ

each living creature ､

לְאַרְבַּ֥עַת

lə·’ar·ba·‘aṯ

with four

. פָּנָֽיו׃

pā·nāw.

מַרְאֵ֨ה

mar·’êh

הָאוֹפַנִּ֤ים

hā·’ō·w·p̄an·nîm

of the wheels

וּמַעֲשֵׂיהֶם֙

ū·ma·‘ă·śê·hem

and their workings [was]

כְּעֵ֣ין

kə·‘ên

､ תַּרְשִׁ֔ישׁ

tar·šîš,

of beryl ､

､ וּדְמ֥וּת

ū·ḏə·mūṯ

and likeness ､

אֶחָ֖ד

’e·ḥāḏ

לְאַרְבַּעְתָּ֑ן

lə·’ar·ba‘·tān;

וּמַרְאֵיהֶם֙

ū·mar·’ê·hem

and the appearance [was]

וּמַ֣עֲשֵׂיהֶ֔ם

ū·ma·‘ă·śê·hem,

and of their workings

כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר

ka·’ă·šer

as

יִהְיֶ֥ה

yih·yeh

הָאוֹפַ֖ן

hā·’ō·w·p̄an

בְּת֥וֹךְ

bə·ṯō·wḵ

in the middle

. הָאוֹפָֽן׃

hā·’ō·w·p̄ān.

of a wheel .

עַל־

‘al-

אַרְבַּ֥עַת

’ar·ba·‘aṯ

– רִבְעֵיהֶ֖ן

riḇ·‘ê·hen

any one of directions –

､ בְּלֶכְתָּ֣ם

bə·leḵ·tām

when they moved ､

יֵלֵ֑כוּ

yê·lê·ḵū;

לֹ֥א

lō

not

יִסַּ֖בּוּ

yis·sab·bū

they did turn aside

. בְּלֶכְתָּֽן׃

bə·leḵ·tān.

when they went .

､ וְגַ֨בֵּיהֶ֔ן

wə·ḡab·bê·hen,

And as for their rims ､

וְגֹ֥בַהּ

wə·ḡō·ḇah

לָהֶ֖ם

lā·hem

– וְיִרְאָ֣ה

wə·yir·’āh

and were awesome –

לָהֶ֑ם

lā·hem;

וְגַבֹּתָ֗ם

wə·ḡab·bō·ṯām,

and their rims [were]

מְלֵאֹ֥ת

mə·lê·’ōṯ

עֵינַ֛יִם

‘ê·na·yim

סָבִ֖יב

sā·ḇîḇ

. לְאַרְבַּעְתָּֽן׃

lə·’ar·ba‘·tān.

the four of them .

､ וּבְלֶ֙כֶת֙

ū·ḇə·le·ḵeṯ

And when went ､

הַֽחַיּ֔וֹת

ha·ḥay·yō·wṯ,

the living creatures

יֵלְכ֥וּ

yê·lə·ḵū

הָאוֹפַנִּ֖ים

hā·’ō·w·p̄an·nîm

אֶצְלָ֑ם

’eṣ·lām;

וּבְהִנָּשֵׂ֤א

ū·ḇə·hin·nā·śê

and when were lifted up

הַֽחַיּוֹת֙

ha·ḥay·yō·wṯ

the living creatures

מֵעַ֣ל

mê·‘al

､ הָאָ֔רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ,

the earth ､

יִנָּשְׂא֖וּ

yin·nā·śə·’ū

. הָאוֹפַנִּֽים׃

hā·’ō·w·p̄an·nîm.

the wheels .

עַ֣ל

‘al

אֲשֶׁר֩

יִֽהְיֶה־

yih·yeh-

שָּׁ֨ם

šām

הָר֤וּחַ

hā·rū·aḥ

､ לָלֶ֙כֶת֙

lā·le·ḵeṯ

to go ､

､ יֵלֵ֔כוּ

yê·lê·ḵū,

שָׁ֥מָּה

šām·māh

[because] there

הָר֖וּחַ

hā·rū·aḥ

– לָלֶ֑כֶת

lā·le·ḵeṯ;

went –

וְהָאוֹפַנִּ֗ים

wə·hā·’ō·w·p̄an·nîm,

and the wheels

יִנָּשְׂאוּ֙

yin·nā·śə·’ū

לְעֻמָּתָ֔ם

lə·‘um·mā·ṯām,

together with them

כִּ֛י

kî

ר֥וּחַ

rū·aḥ

הַחַיָּ֖ה

ha·ḥay·yāh

of the living creatures

. בָּאוֹפַנִּֽים׃

bā·’ō·w·p̄an·nîm.

[was] in the wheels .

､ בְּלֶכְתָּ֣ם

bə·leḵ·tām

When those went ､

– יֵלֵ֔כוּ

yê·lê·ḵū,

[these] went –

､ וּבְעָמְדָ֖ם

ū·ḇə·‘ā·mə·ḏām

and when those stood ､

– יַֽעֲמֹ֑דוּ

ya·‘ă·mō·ḏū;

[these] stood –

וּֽבְהִנָּשְׂאָ֞ם

ū·ḇə·hin·nā·śə·’ām

and when those were lifted up

מֵעַ֣ל

mê·‘al

､ הָאָ֗רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ,

the earth ､

יִנָּשְׂא֤וּ

yin·nā·śə·’ū

הָאֽוֹפַנִּים֙

hā·’ō·w·p̄an·nîm

לְעֻמָּתָ֔ם

lə·‘um·mā·ṯām,

together with them

כִּ֛י

kî

ר֥וּחַ

rū·aḥ

הַחַיָּ֖ה

ha·ḥay·yāh

of the living creatures

. בָּאוֹפַנִּֽים׃

bā·’ō·w·p̄an·nîm.

[was] in the wheels .

Vision of the Divine Glory

וּדְמ֞וּת

ū·ḏə·mūṯ

And the likeness [was]

עַל־

‘al-

רָאשֵׁ֤י

rā·šê

הַחַיָּה֙

ha·ḥay·yāh

of the living creatures

רָקִ֔יעַ

rā·qî·a‘,

of the firmament

כְּעֵ֖ין

kə·‘ên

､ הַקֶּ֣רַח

haq·qe·raḥ

of crystal ､

הַנּוֹרָ֑א

han·nō·w·rā;

נָט֥וּי

nā·ṭui

עַל־

‘al-

רָאשֵׁיהֶ֖ם

rā·šê·hem

. מִלְמָֽעְלָה׃

mil·mā·‘ə·lāh.

וְתַ֙חַת֙

wə·ṯa·ḥaṯ

הָרָקִ֔יעַ

hā·rā·qî·a‘,

כַּנְפֵיהֶ֣ם

kan·p̄ê·hem

､ יְשָׁר֔וֹת

yə·šā·rō·wṯ,

[spread out] straight ､

אִשָּׁ֖ה

’iš·šāh

אֶל־

’el-

– אֲחוֹתָ֑הּ

’ă·ḥō·w·ṯāh;

לְאִ֗ישׁ

lə·’îš,

､ שְׁתַּ֤יִם

šə·ta·yim

two ､

מְכַסּוֹת֙

mə·ḵas·sō·wṯ

､ לָהֵ֔נָּה

lā·hên·nāh,

them ､

וּלְאִ֗ישׁ

ū·lə·’îš,

and had each one

､ שְׁתַּ֤יִם

šə·ta·yim

two ､

מְכַסּוֹת֙

mə·ḵas·sō·wṯ

､ לָהֵ֔נָּה

lā·hên·nāh,

them ､

אֵ֖ת

’êṯ

-

. גְּוִיֹּתֵיהֶֽם׃

gə·wî·yō·ṯê·hem.

of the body .

וָאֶשְׁמַ֣ע

wā·’eš·ma‘

And I heard

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

ק֣וֹל

qō·wl

､ כַּנְפֵיהֶ֡ם

kan·p̄ê·hem

of their wings ､

כְּקוֹל֩

kə·qō·wl

､ מַ֨יִם

ma·yim

of waters ､

רַבִּ֤ים

rab·bîm

כְּקוֹל־

kə·qō·wl-

､ שַׁדַּי֙

šad·day

of the Almighty ､

､ בְּלֶכְתָּ֔ם

bə·leḵ·tām,

when they went ､

ק֥וֹל

qō·wl

､ הֲמֻלָּ֖ה

hă·mul·lāh

a tumult ､

כְּק֣וֹל

kə·qō·wl

– מַחֲנֶ֑ה

ma·ḥă·neh;

of an army –

､ בְּעָמְדָ֖ם

bə·‘ā·mə·ḏām

and when they stood still ､

תְּרַפֶּ֥ינָה

tə·rap·pe·nāh

. כַנְפֵיהֶֽן׃

ḵan·p̄ê·hen.

וַיְהִי־

way·hî-

And came

ק֕וֹל

qō·wl

מֵעַ֕ל

mê·‘al

לָרָקִ֖יעַ

lā·rā·qî·a‘

from above the firmament

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

עַל־

‘al-

､ רֹאשָׁ֑ם

rō·šām;

their heads ､

､ בְּעָמְדָ֖ם

bə·‘ā·mə·ḏām

whenever they stood ､

תְּרַפֶּ֥ינָה

tə·rap·pe·nāh

. כַנְפֵיהֶֽן׃

ḵan·p̄ê·hen.

וּמִמַּ֗עַל

ū·mim·ma·‘al,

לָרָקִ֙יעַ֙

lā·rā·qî·a‘

אֲשֶׁ֣ר

’ă·šer

עַל־

‘al-

רֹאשָׁ֔ם

rō·šām,

כְּמַרְאֵ֥ה

kə·mar·’êh

in appearance like

– אֶֽבֶן־

’e·ḇen-

a stone –

סַפִּ֖יר

sap·pîr

דְּמ֣וּת

də·mūṯ

[was] the likeness

､ כִּסֵּ֑א

kis·sê;

of a throne ､

וְעַל֙

wə·‘al

and on

דְּמ֣וּת

də·mūṯ

הַכִּסֵּ֔א

hak·kis·sê,

of the throne

דְּמ֞וּת

də·mūṯ

[was] a likeness

כְּמַרְאֵ֥ה

kə·mar·’êh

with the appearance

אָדָ֛ם

’ā·ḏām

of a man

עָלָ֖יו

‘ā·lāw

. מִלְמָֽעְלָה׃

mil·mā·‘ə·lāh.

וָאֵ֣רֶא ׀

wā·’ê·re

And I saw

כְּעֵ֣ין

kə·‘ên

as it were the color

､ חַשְׁמַ֗ל

ḥaš·mal,

of amber ､

כְּמַרְאֵה־

kə·mar·’êh-

with the appearance

אֵ֤שׁ

’êš

בֵּֽית־

bêṯ-

לָהּ֙

lāh

it

סָבִ֔יב

sā·ḇîḇ,

מִמַּרְאֵ֥ה

mim·mar·’êh

from the appearance

מָתְנָ֖יו

mā·ṯə·nāw

､ וּלְמָ֑עְלָה

ū·lə·mā·‘ə·lāh;

and upward ､

וּמִמַּרְאֵ֤ה

ū·mim·mar·’êh

and from the appearance

מָתְנָיו֙

mā·ṯə·nāw

､ וּלְמַ֔טָּה

ū·lə·maṭ·ṭāh,

and downward ､

רָאִ֙יתִי֙

rā·’î·ṯî

כְּמַרְאֵה־

kə·mar·’êh-

as it were the appearance

､ אֵ֔שׁ

’êš,

of fire ､

וְנֹ֥גַֽהּ

wə·nō·ḡah

and with brightness

ל֖וֹ

lōw

to

. סָבִֽיב׃

sā·ḇîḇ.

כְּמַרְאֵ֣ה

kə·mar·’êh

Like the appearance

הַקֶּ֡שֶׁת

haq·qe·šeṯ

אֲשֶׁר֩

יִֽהְיֶ֨ה

yih·yeh

is

בֶעָנָ֜ן

ḇe·‘ā·nān

in a cloud

בְּי֣וֹם

on a day

of the likeness

כְּבוֹד־

of the glory

. יְהוָ֑ה

Yah·weh;

וָֽאֶרְאֶה֙

wā·’er·’eh

So when I saw [it]

וָאֶפֹּ֣ל

wā·’ep·pōl

and I fell

עַל־

‘al-

on

､ פָּנַ֔י

pā·nay,

my face ､

וָאֶשְׁמַ֖ע

wā·’eš·ma‘

and I heard

ק֥וֹל

qō·wl

. מְדַבֵּֽר׃

mə·ḏab·bêr.

of one speaking .
