､ וָאֶרְאֶ֗ה

wā·’er·’eh,

And I looked ､

､ וְהִנֵּ֤ה

wə·hin·nêh

and there ､

אֶל־

’el-

in

הָרָקִ֙יעַ֙

hā·rā·qî·a‘

אֲשֶׁר֙

’ă·šer

עַל־

‘al-

רֹ֣אשׁ

rōš

the head

הַכְּרֻבִ֔ים

hak·kə·ru·ḇîm,

of the cherubim

､ כְּאֶ֣בֶן

kə·’e·ḇen

like a stone ､

סַפִּ֔יר

sap·pîr,

כְּמַרְאֵ֖ה

kə·mar·’êh

[something] having the appearance

דְּמ֣וּת

də·mūṯ

of the likeness

כִּסֵּ֑א

kis·sê;

נִרְאָ֖ה

nir·’āh

. עֲלֵיהֶֽם׃

‘ă·lê·hem.

וַיֹּ֜אמֶר

way·yō·mer

And He spoke

אֶל־

’el-

to

הָאִ֣ישׁ ׀

hā·’îš

the man

לְבֻ֣שׁ

lə·ḇuš

､ הַבַּדִּ֗ים

hab·bad·dîm,

､ וַיֹּ֡אמֶר

way·yō·mer

and said ､

בֹּא֩

bō

go in

אֶל־

’el-

to

בֵּינ֨וֹת

bê·nō·wṯ

､ לַגַּלְגַּ֜ל

lag·gal·gal

among the wheels ､

אֶל־

’el-

to

תַּ֣חַת

ta·ḥaṯ

､ לַכְּר֗וּב

lak·kə·rūḇ,

under the cherub ､

וּמַלֵּ֨א

ū·mal·lê

and fill

חָפְנֶ֤יךָ

ḥā·p̄ə·ne·ḵā

גַֽחֲלֵי־

ḡa·ḥă·lê-

with coals of

אֵשׁ֙

’êš

מִבֵּינ֣וֹת

mib·bê·nō·wṯ

､ לַכְּרֻבִ֔ים

lak·kə·ru·ḇîm,

from among the cherubim ､

וּזְרֹ֖ק

ū·zə·rōq

and scatter [them]

עַל־

‘al-

הָעִ֑יר

hā·‘îr;

the city

וַיָּבֹ֖א

way·yā·ḇō

and he went in

. לְעֵינָֽי׃

lə·‘ê·nāy.

as I watched .

וְהַכְּרֻבִ֗ים

wə·hak·kə·ru·ḇîm,

And the cherubim

עֹֽמְדִ֛ים

‘ō·mə·ḏîm

מִימִ֥ין

mî·mîn

on the south side

､ לַבַּ֖יִת

lab·ba·yiṯ

of the temple ､

– בְּבֹא֣וֹ

bə·ḇō·’ōw

when went in –

הָאִ֑ישׁ

hā·’îš;

the man

וְהֶעָנָ֣ן

wə·he·‘ā·nān

and the cloud

מָלֵ֔א

mā·lê,

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

הֶחָצֵ֖ר

he·ḥā·ṣêr

. הַפְּנִימִֽית׃

hap·pə·nî·mîṯ.

וַיָּ֤רָם

way·yā·rām

And went up

כְּבוֹד־

kə·ḇō·wḏ-

the glory of

יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

מֵעַ֣ל

mê·‘al

､ הַכְּר֔וּב

hak·kə·rūḇ,

the cherub ､

עַ֖ל

‘al

[and paused] over

מִפְתַּ֣ן

mip̄·tan

– הַבָּ֑יִת

hab·bā·yiṯ;

of the temple –

וַיִּמָּלֵ֤א

way·yim·mā·lê

הַבַּ֙יִת֙

hab·ba·yiṯ

אֶת־

’eṯ-

with

､ הֶ֣עָנָ֔ן

he·‘ā·nān,

the cloud ､

וְהֶֽחָצֵר֙

wə·he·ḥā·ṣêr

and the court

מָֽלְאָ֔ה

mā·lə·’āh,

אֶת־

’eṯ-

of

נֹ֖גַהּ

nō·ḡah

the brightness of

כְּב֥וֹד

kə·ḇō·wḏ

. יְהוָֽה׃

Yah·weh.

וְקוֹל֙

wə·qō·wl

And the sound

כַּנְפֵ֣י

kan·p̄ê

of the wings

הַכְּרוּבִ֔ים

hak·kə·rū·ḇîm,

of the cherubim

נִשְׁמַ֕ע

niš·ma‘

עַד־

‘aḏ-

[even] in

､ הֶחָצֵ֖ר

he·ḥā·ṣêr

the court ､

הַחִיצֹנָ֑ה

ha·ḥî·ṣō·nāh;

כְּק֥וֹל

kə·qō·wl

אֵל־

’êl-

of God

שַׁדַּ֖י

šad·day

. בְּדַבְּרֽוֹ׃

bə·ḏab·bə·rōw.

when He speaks .

､ וַיְהִ֗י

way·hî,

And it came to pass ､

בְּצַוֺּתוֹ֙

bə·ṣaw·wō·ṯōw

when He commanded

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

הָאִ֤ישׁ

hā·’îš

the man

לְבֻֽשׁ־

lə·ḇuš-

､ הַבַּדִּים֙

hab·bad·dîm

､ לֵאמֹ֔ר

lê·mōr,

קַ֥ח

qaḥ

אֵשׁ֙

’êš

מִבֵּינ֣וֹת

mib·bê·nō·wṯ

､ לַגַּלְגַּ֔ל

lag·gal·gal,

from among the wheels ､

מִבֵּינ֖וֹת

mib·bê·nō·wṯ

– לַכְּרוּבִ֑ים

lak·kə·rū·ḇîm;

from among the cherubim –

､ וַיָּבֹא֙

way·yā·ḇō

that he went in ､

וַֽיַּעֲמֹ֔ד

way·ya·‘ă·mōḏ,

אֵ֖צֶל

’ê·ṣel

. הָאוֹפָֽן׃

hā·’ō·w·p̄ān.

the wheels .

וַיִּשְׁלַח֩

way·yiš·laḥ

And stretched out

הַכְּר֨וּב

hak·kə·rūḇ

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

יָד֜וֹ

yā·ḏōw

מִבֵּינ֣וֹת

mib·bê·nō·wṯ

לַכְּרוּבִ֗ים

lak·kə·rū·ḇîm,

from among the cherubim

אֶל־

’el-

to

הָאֵשׁ֙

hā·’êš

the fire

אֲשֶׁר֙

’ă·šer

בֵּינ֣וֹת

bê·nō·wṯ

､ הַכְּרֻבִ֔ים

hak·kə·ru·ḇîm,

the cherubim ､

וַיִּשָּׂא֙

way·yiś·śā

and took [some of it]

וַיִּתֵּ֔ן

way·yit·tên,

and put [it]

אֶל־

’el-

חָפְנֵ֖י

ḥā·p̄ə·nê

the hands of

לְבֻ֣שׁ

lə·ḇuš

the [man] clothed with

､ הַבַּדִּ֑ים

hab·bad·dîm;

וַיִּקַּ֖ח

way·yiq·qaḥ

and who took [it]

. וַיֵּצֵֽא׃

way·yê·ṣê.

and went out .

וַיֵּרָ֖א

way·yê·rā

And appeared to have

לַכְּרֻבִ֑ים

lak·kə·ru·ḇîm;

תַּבְנִית֙

taḇ·nîṯ

the form

יַד־

yaḏ-

of a hand

אָדָ֔ם

’ā·ḏām,

of man

תַּ֖חַת

ta·ḥaṯ

. כַּנְפֵיהֶֽם׃

kan·p̄ê·hem.

､ וָאֶרְאֶ֗ה

wā·’er·’eh,

And when I looked ､

וְהִנֵּ֨ה

wə·hin·nêh

אַרְבָּעָ֣ה

’ar·bā·‘āh

אוֹפַנִּים֮

’ō·w·p̄an·nîm

אֵ֣צֶל

’ê·ṣel

by

､ הַכְּרוּבִים֒

hak·kə·rū·ḇîm

the cherubim ､

אוֹפַ֣ן

’ō·w·p̄an

אֶחָ֗ד

’e·ḥāḏ,

אֵ֚צֶל

’ê·ṣel

by

､ הַכְּר֣וּב

hak·kə·rūḇ

אֶחָ֔ד

’e·ḥāḏ,

וְאוֹפַ֣ן

wə·’ō·w·p̄an

אֶחָ֔ד

’e·ḥāḏ,

אֵ֖צֶל

’ê·ṣel

by

– הַכְּר֣וּב

hak·kə·rūḇ

אֶחָ֑ד

’e·ḥāḏ;

וּמַרְאֵה֙

ū·mar·’êh

and appeared [to have]

הָא֣וֹפַנִּ֔ים

hā·’ō·w·p̄an·nîm,

כְּעֵ֖ין

kə·‘ên

אֶ֥בֶן

’e·ḇen

of a stone

. תַּרְשִֽׁישׁ׃

tar·šîš.

､ וּמַ֨רְאֵיהֶ֔ם

ū·mar·’ê·hem,

And [As for] their appearance ､

､ דְּמ֥וּת

də·mūṯ

אֶחָ֖ד

’e·ḥāḏ

לְאַרְבַּעְתָּ֑ם

lə·’ar·ba‘·tām;

כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר

ka·’ă·šer

as

יִהְיֶ֥ה

yih·yeh

הָאוֹפַ֖ן

hā·’ō·w·p̄an

בְּת֥וֹךְ

bə·ṯō·wḵ

in the middle

. הָאוֹפָֽן׃

hā·’ō·w·p̄ān.

of a wheel .

､ בְּלֶכְתָּ֗ם

bə·leḵ·tām,

When they went ､

אֶל־

’el-

אַרְבַּ֤עַת

’ar·ba·‘aṯ

– רִבְעֵיהֶם֙

riḇ·‘ê·hem

[any of] their directions –

יֵלֵ֔כוּ

yê·lê·ḵū,

לֹ֥א

lō

not

יִסַּ֖בּוּ

yis·sab·bū

they did turn aside

､ בְּלֶכְתָּ֑ם

bə·leḵ·tām;

when they went ､

כִּ֣י

kî

but

הַמָּק֞וֹם

ham·mā·qō·wm

in the direction

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

יִפְנֶ֤ה

yip̄·neh

הָרֹאשׁ֙

hā·rōš

the head

אַחֲרָ֣יו

’a·ḥă·rāw

יֵלֵ֔כוּ

yê·lê·ḵū,

לֹ֥א

lō

not

יִסַּ֖בּוּ

yis·sab·bū

they did turn aside

. בְּלֶכְתָּֽם׃

bə·leḵ·tām.

when they went .

וְכָל־

wə·ḵāl

､ בְּשָׂרָם֙

bə·śā·rām

､ וְגַבֵּהֶ֔ם

wə·ḡab·bê·hem,

and with their back ､

､ וִֽידֵיהֶ֖ם

wî·ḏê·hem

their hands ､

､ וְכַנְפֵיהֶ֑ם

wə·ḵan·p̄ê·hem;

and their wings ､

､ וְהָאֽוֹפַנִּ֗ים

wə·hā·’ō·w·p̄an·nîm,

and the wheels [were] ､

מְלֵאִ֤ים

mə·lê·’îm

עֵינַ֙יִם֙

‘ê·na·yim

､ סָבִ֔יב

sā·ḇîḇ,

לְאַרְבַּעְתָּ֖ם

lə·’ar·ba‘·tām

had [that] the four

. אוֹפַנֵּיהֶֽם׃

’ō·w·p̄an·nê·hem.

､ לָא֖וֹפַנִּ֑ים

lā·’ō·w·p̄an·nîm;

As for the wheels ､

לָהֶ֛ם

lā·hem

קוֹרָ֥א

qō·w·rā

. הַגַּלְגַּ֖ל

hag·gal·gal

､ בְּאָזְנָֽי׃

bə·’ā·zə·nāy.

In my hearing ､

וְאַרְבָּעָ֥ה

wə·’ar·bā·‘āh

and four

. פָנִ֖ים

p̄ā·nîm

לְאֶחָ֑ד

lə·’e·ḥāḏ;

Had [Each]_2 one

פְּנֵ֨י

pə·nê

הָאֶחָ֜ד

hā·’e·ḥāḏ

פְּנֵ֣י

pə·nê

the face

､ הַכְּר֗וּב

hak·kə·rūḇ,

of a cherub ､

וּפְנֵ֤י

ū·p̄ə·nê

and face

הַשֵּׁנִי֙

haš·šê·nî

the face

､ אָדָ֔ם

’ā·ḏām,

of a man ､

וְהַשְּׁלִישִׁי֙

and the third

פְּנֵ֣י

､ אַרְיֵ֔ה

’ar·yêh,

of a lion ､

וְהָרְבִיעִ֖י

wə·hā·rə·ḇî·‘î

and the fourth

פְּנֵי־

pə·nê-

the face

. נָֽשֶׁר׃

nā·šer.

of an eagle .

. וַיֵּרֹ֖מּוּ

way·yê·rōm·mū

And were lifted up .

הַכְּרוּבִ֑ים

hak·kə·rū·ḇîm;

הִ֣יא

hî

הַחַיָּ֔ה

ha·ḥay·yāh,

the living creature

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

רָאִ֖יתִי

rā·’î·ṯî

בִּֽנְהַר־

bin·har-

by the River

. כְּבָֽר׃

kə·ḇār.

､ וּבְלֶ֙כֶת֙

ū·ḇə·le·ḵeṯ

And when went ､

הַכְּרוּבִ֔ים

hak·kə·rū·ḇîm,

יֵלְכ֥וּ

yê·lə·ḵū

הָאוֹפַנִּ֖ים

hā·’ō·w·p̄an·nîm

אֶצְלָ֑ם

’eṣ·lām;

וּבִשְׂאֵ֨ת

ū·ḇiś·’êṯ

and when lifted

הַכְּרוּבִ֜ים

hak·kə·rū·ḇîm

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

כַּנְפֵיהֶ֗ם

kan·p̄ê·hem,

לָרוּם֙

lā·rūm

to mount up

מֵעַ֣ל

mê·‘al

､ הָאָ֔רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ,

the earth ､

לֹא־

lō-

not

יִסַּ֧בּוּ

yis·sab·bū

הָאוֹפַנִּ֛ים

hā·’ō·w·p̄an·nîm

גַּם־

gam-

הֵ֖ם

hêm

. מֵאֶצְלָֽם׃

mê·’eṣ·lām.

from beside them .

､ בְּעָמְדָ֣ם

bə·‘ā·mə·ḏām

When [the cherubim] stood still ､

– יַעֲמֹ֔דוּ

ya·‘ă·mō·ḏū,

[the wheels] stood still –

､ וּבְרוֹמָ֖ם

ū·ḇə·rō·w·mām

and when [one] was lifted up ､

יֵר֣וֹמּוּ

yê·rō·wm·mū

[the other] lifted up

אוֹתָ֑ם

’ō·w·ṯām;

כִּ֛י

kî

ר֥וּחַ

rū·aḥ

הַחַיָּ֖ה

ha·ḥay·yāh

of the living creature

. בָּהֶֽם׃

bā·hem.

[was] in them .

וַיֵּצֵא֙

way·yê·ṣê

כְּב֣וֹד

kə·ḇō·wḏ

יְהוָ֔ה

Yah·weh,

מֵעַ֖ל

mê·‘al

מִפְתַּ֣ן

mip̄·tan

､ הַבָּ֑יִת

hab·bā·yiṯ;

of the temple ､

וַֽיַּעֲמֹ֖ד

way·ya·‘ă·mōḏ

עַל־

‘al-

. הַכְּרוּבִֽים׃

hak·kə·rū·ḇîm.

וַיִּשְׂא֣וּ

way·yiś·’ū

הַכְּרוּבִ֣ים

hak·kə·rū·ḇîm

אֶת־

’eṯ-

-

､ כַּ֠נְפֵיהֶם

kan·p̄ê·hem

their wings ､

וַיֵּר֨וֹמּוּ

way·yê·rō·wm·mū

and mounted up

מִן־

min-

הָאָ֤רֶץ

hā·’ā·reṣ

– לְעֵינַי֙

lə·‘ê·nay

in my sight –

､ בְּצֵאתָ֔ם

bə·ṣê·ṯām,

when they went out ､

וְהָאֽוֹפַנִּ֖ים

wə·hā·’ō·w·p̄an·nîm

and the wheels [were]

לְעֻמָּתָ֑ם

lə·‘um·mā·ṯām;

וַֽיַּעֲמֹ֗ד

way·ya·‘ă·mōḏ,

פֶּ֣תַח

pe·ṯaḥ

at the door

שַׁ֤עַר

ša·‘ar

– בֵּית־

bêṯ-

of the house –

יְהוָה֙

Yah·weh

הַקַּדְמוֹנִ֔י

haq·qaḏ·mō·w·nî,

the east

וּכְב֧וֹד

ū·ḵə·ḇō·wḏ

and the glory

אֱלֹהֵֽי־

’ĕ·lō·hê-

of the God

יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל

yiś·rā·’êl

עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם

‘ă·lê·hem

[was] above them

. מִלְמָֽעְלָה׃

mil·mā·‘ə·lāh.

הִ֣יא

hî

That [is]

הַחַיָּ֗ה

ha·ḥay·yāh,

the living creature

אֲשֶׁ֥ר

’ă·šer

רָאִ֛יתִי

rā·’î·ṯî

תַּ֥חַת

ta·ḥaṯ

אֱלֹהֵֽי־

’ĕ·lō·hê-

the God

יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל

yiś·rā·’êl

בִּֽנְהַר־

bin·har-

by the River

– כְּבָ֑ר

kə·ḇār;

וָאֵדַ֕ע

wā·’ê·ḏa‘

and I knew

כִּ֥י

kî

-

כְרוּבִ֖ים

ḵə·rū·ḇîm

. הֵֽמָּה׃

hêm·māh.

､ אַרְבָּעָ֨ה

’ar·bā·‘āh

Four ､

אַרְבָּעָ֤ה

’ar·bā·‘āh

פָנִים֙

p̄ā·nîm

לְאֶחָ֔ד

lə·’e·ḥāḏ,

וְאַרְבַּ֥ע

wə·’ar·ba‘

and four

– כְּנָפַ֖יִם

kə·nā·p̄a·yim

לְאֶחָ֑ד

lə·’e·ḥāḏ;

וּדְמוּת֙

ū·ḏə·mūṯ

and the likeness

יְדֵ֣י

yə·ḏê

of the hands

אָדָ֔ם

’ā·ḏām,

of a man

תַּ֖חַת

ta·ḥaṯ

. כַּנְפֵיהֶֽם׃

kan·p̄ê·hem.

וּדְמ֣וּת

ū·ḏə·mūṯ

And the likeness

פְּנֵיהֶ֔ם

pə·nê·hem,

הֵ֣מָּה

hêm·māh

הַפָּנִ֗ים

hap·pā·nîm,

אֲשֶׁ֤ר

’ă·šer

רָאִ֙יתִי֙

rā·’î·ṯî

עַל־

‘al-

by

נְהַר־

nə·har-

､ כְּבָ֔ר

kə·ḇār,

מַרְאֵיהֶ֖ם

mar·’ê·hem

their appearance

וְאוֹתָ֑ם

wə·’ō·w·ṯām;

and their persons

אִ֛ישׁ

’îš

. אֶל־

’el-

straight ahead .

עֵ֥בֶר

‘ê·ḇer

פָּנָ֖יו

pā·nāw

. יֵלֵֽכוּ׃

yê·lê·ḵū.

they each went .
