､ שָׁנָ֔ה

the year ､
בַּשְּׁלִישִׁ֖י

in the third [month]
בְּאֶחָ֣ד
bə·’e·ḥāḏ
on the first [day]
､ לַחֹ֑דֶשׁ
la·ḥō·ḏeš;
of the month ､
הָיָ֥ה
hā·yāh
דְבַר־
ḏə·ḇar-
the word
יְהוָ֖ה
Yah·weh
אֵלַ֥י
’ê·lay
to me
､ לֵאמֹֽר׃
lê·mōr.
saying ､

בֶּן־
ben-
､ אָדָ֕ם
’ā·ḏām
of man ､
אֱמֹ֛ר
’ĕ·mōr
אֶל־
’el-
to
פַּרְעֹ֥ה
par·‘ōh
מֶֽלֶךְ־
me·leḵ-
､ מִצְרַ֖יִם
miṣ·ra·yim
of Egypt ､
וְאֶל־
wə·’el-
and to
– הֲמוֹנ֑וֹ
hă·mō·w·nōw;
אֶל־
’el-
to
מִ֖י

דָּמִ֥יתָ

؟ בְגָדְלֶֽךָ׃

בַּלְּבָנ֗וֹן

יְפֵ֥ה

､ עָנָ֛ף
‘ā·nāp̄
with branches ､
､ וְחֹ֥רֶשׁ
wə·ḥō·reš
and the forest ､
מֵצַ֖ל
mê·ṣal
וּגְבַ֣הּ
ū·ḡə·ḇah
and high
– קוֹמָ֑ה
qō·w·māh;
of stature –
וּבֵ֣ין
ū·ḇên
and among
עֲבֹתִ֔ים
‘ă·ḇō·ṯîm,
הָיְתָ֖ה
hā·yə·ṯāh
. צַמַּרְתּֽוֹ׃
ṣam·mar·tōw.

מַ֣יִם
ma·yim
The waters
､ גִּדְּל֔וּהוּ
gid·də·lū·hū,
made it grow ､
תְּה֖וֹם
tə·hō·wm
רֹֽמְמָ֑תְהוּ
rō·mə·mā·ṯə·hū;
אֶת־
’eṯ-
with her
נַהֲרֹתֶ֗יהָ
na·hă·rō·ṯe·hā,
הֹלֵךְ֙
hō·lêḵ
סְבִיב֣וֹת
sə·ḇî·ḇō·wṯ
､ מַטָּעָ֔הּ
maṭ·ṭā·‘āh,
the place where it was planted ､
וְאֶת־
wə·’eṯ-
and
תְּעָלֹתֶ֣יהָ
tə·‘ā·lō·ṯe·hā
שִׁלְחָ֔ה
šil·ḥāh,
אֶ֖ל
’el
to
כָּל־
kāl-
עֲצֵ֥י
‘ă·ṣê
the trees
. הַשָּׂדֶֽה׃
haś·śā·ḏeh.
of the field .

the trees
､ הַשָּׂדֶ֑ה

of the field ､
､ וַתִּרְבֶּ֨ינָה
wat·tir·be·nāh
סַֽרְעַפֹּתָ֜יו
sar·‘ap·pō·ṯāw
וַתֶּאֱרַ֧כְנָה
wat·te·’ĕ·raḵ·nāh

In its boughs ､

the birds
הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם

of the heavens
וְתַ֤חַת
wə·ṯa·ḥaṯ
and Under
פֹּֽארֹתָיו֙

､ יָֽלְד֔וּ
yā·lə·ḏū,
כֹּ֖ל

חַיַּ֣ת

the beasts
הַשָּׂדֶ֑ה
haś·śā·ḏeh;
of the field
וּבְצִלּוֹ֙
ū·ḇə·ṣil·lōw
and in its shadow
יֵֽשְׁב֔וּ
yê·šə·ḇū,
כֹּ֖ל
kōl
גּוֹיִ֥ם

. רַבִּֽים׃
rab·bîm.

､ בְּגָדְל֔וֹ

in greatness ､
בְּאֹ֖רֶךְ

and in the length
– דָּֽלִיּוֹתָ֑יו
dā·lî·yō·w·ṯāw;
of its branches –
כִּֽי־

הָיָ֥ה

שָׁרְשׁ֖וֹ

אֶל־

to

and the chestnut trees

– כְּפֹֽארֹתָ֑יו

עֵץ֙
‘êṣ
בְּגַן־
bə·ḡan-
in the garden
אֱלֹהִ֔ים
’ĕ·lō·hîm,
of God
לֹא־
lō-
not
דָמָ֥ה

אֵלָ֖יו
’ê·lāw
it
. בְּיָפְיֽוֹ׃
bə·yā·p̄ə·yōw.
in beauty .

I made it
בְּרֹ֖ב
bə·rōḇ
with a multitude
､ דָּֽלִיּוֹתָ֑יו
dā·lî·yō·w·ṯāw;
of branches ､
וַיְקַנְאֻ֙הוּ֙
way·qan·’u·hū
so that envied it
כָּל־
kāl-
עֲצֵי־
‘ă·ṣê-
the trees
､ עֵ֔דֶן
‘ê·ḏen,
of Eden ､
אֲשֶׁ֖ר
’ă·šer
בְּגַ֥ן
bə·ḡan
in the garden
､ הָאֱלֹהִֽים׃
hā·’ĕ·lō·hîm.
of God ､

the Lord
– יְהוִ֔ה
Yah·weh,
GOD –
יַ֕עַן
ya·‘an
אֲשֶׁ֥ר
’ă·šer
גָּבַ֖הְתָּ
gā·ḇah·tā
､ בְּקוֹמָ֑ה
bə·qō·w·māh;
in height ､
וַיִּתֵּ֤ן
way·yit·tên
and it set
צַמַּרְתּוֹ֙
ṣam·mar·tōw
אֶל־
’el-
to
בֵּ֣ין
bên
､ עֲבוֹתִ֔ים
‘ă·ḇō·w·ṯîm,
the thick boughs ､
וְרָ֥ם
wə·rām
and was lifted up
לְבָב֖וֹ
lə·ḇā·ḇōw
– בְּגָבְהֽוֹ׃
bə·ḡā·ḇə·hōw.
in its height –

וְאֶ֨תְּנֵ֔הוּ
wə·’et·tə·nê·hū,
and therefore I will deliver it
בְּיַ֖ד
bə·yaḏ
into the hand of
אֵ֣יל
’êl
– גּוֹיִ֑ם
gō·w·yim;
of the nations –
עָשׂ֤וֹ
‘ā·śōw
and surely
יַֽעֲשֶׂה֙
ya·‘ă·śeh
ל֔וֹ
lōw,
with it
כְּרִשְׁע֖וֹ
kə·riš·‘ōw
. גֵּרַשְׁתִּֽהוּ׃
gê·raš·ti·hū.
I have driven it out .

､ וַיִּכְרְתֻ֧הוּ
way·yiḵ·rə·ṯu·hū
And have cut it down ､
､ זָרִ֛ים
zā·rîm
aliens ､
עָרִיצֵ֥י
‘ā·rî·ṣê
､ גוֹיִ֖ם
ḡō·w·yim
of the nations ､
וַֽיִּטְּשֻׁ֑הוּ
way·yiṭ·ṭə·šu·hū;
and left it
אֶל־
’el-
on
הֶ֠הָרִים
he·hā·rîm
וּבְכָל־
ū·ḇə·ḵāl
and in all
גֵּ֨אָי֜וֹת
gê·’ā·yō·wṯ
､ נָפְל֣וּ
nā·p̄ə·lū
דָלִיּוֹתָ֗יו
ḏā·lî·yō·w·ṯāw,
וַתִּשָּׁבַ֤רְנָה
wat·tiš·šā·ḇar·nāh
פֹֽארֹתָיו֙
p̄ō·rō·ṯāw
בְּכֹל֙
bə·ḵōl
by all
אֲפִיקֵ֣י
’ă·p̄î·qê
the rivers
– הָאָ֔רֶץ
hā·’ā·reṣ,
of the land –
וַיֵּרְד֧וּ
way·yê·rə·ḏū
､ מִצִּלּ֛וֹ
miṣ·ṣil·lōw
כָּל־
kāl-
עַמֵּ֥י
‘am·mê
הָאָ֖רֶץ
hā·’ā·reṣ
of the earth
. וַֽיִּטְּשֻֽׁהוּ׃
way·yiṭ·ṭə·šu·hū.
and left it .

On
מַפַּלְתּ֥וֹ
map·pal·tōw
､ יִשְׁכְּנ֖וּ
yiš·kə·nū
will remain ､
כָּל־
kāl-
ע֣וֹף
‘ō·wp̄
the birds
הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם
haš·šā·mā·yim;
of the heavens
וְאֶל־
wə·’el-
and to
– פֹּארֹתָ֣יו
pō·rō·ṯāw
הָי֔וּ
hā·yū,
will come
כֹּ֖ל
kōl
חַיַּ֥ת
ḥay·yaṯ
the beasts
. הַשָּׂדֶֽה׃
haś·śā·ḏeh.
of the field .

by the waters
וְלֹֽא־
wə·lō-
and nor
יִתְּנ֤וּ
yit·tə·nū
אֶת־
’eṯ-

צַמַּרְתָּם֙
ṣam·mar·tām
אֶל־
’el-
to
בֵּ֣ין
bên
､ עֲבֹתִ֔ים
‘ă·ḇō·ṯîm,
the thick boughs ､
וְלֹֽא־

that no
יַעַמְד֧וּ

to reach up to them
אֵלֵיהֶ֛ם

the depths

the sons

with

the deep
וָֽאֶמְנַע֙

נַהֲרוֹתֶ֔יהָ
na·hă·rō·w·ṯe·hā,
– וַיִּכָּלְא֖וּ
way·yik·kā·lə·’ū
and were held back –
מַ֣יִם
ma·yim
the waters
רַבִּ֑ים
rab·bîm;
וָאַקְדִּ֤ר
wā·’aq·dir
and I caused to mourn
עָלָיו֙
‘ā·lāw
for it
לְבָנ֔וֹן
lə·ḇā·nō·wn,
וְכָל־
wə·ḵāl
and all
עֲצֵ֥י
‘ă·ṣê
the trees
הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה
haś·śā·ḏeh
of the field
עָלָ֥יו
‘ā·lāw
because of it
. עֻלְפֶּֽה׃
‘ul·peh.

miq·qō·wl
At the sound
､ מַפַּלְתּוֹ֙
map·pal·tōw
of its fall ､
הִרְעַ֣שְׁתִּי
hir·‘aš·tî
גוֹיִ֔ם
ḡō·w·yim,
בְּהוֹרִדִ֥י
bə·hō·w·ri·ḏî
אֹת֛וֹ
’ō·ṯōw
it
שְׁא֖וֹלָה
šə·’ō·w·lāh
to hell
אֶת־
’eṯ-
י֣וֹרְדֵי
yō·wr·ḏê
– ב֑וֹר
ḇō·wr;
into the Pit –
וַיִּנָּ֨חֲמ֜וּ
way·yin·nā·ḥă·mū
. בְּאֶ֤רֶץ
bə·’e·reṣ
in the earth .

The depths

of Eden ､
מִבְחַ֥ר
miḇ·ḥar
the choice
וְטוֹב־
wə·ṭō·wḇ-
and best
､ לְבָנ֖וֹן
lə·ḇā·nō·wn
of Lebanon ､
כָּל־
kāl-
שֹׁ֥תֵי
šō·ṯê
､ מָֽיִם׃
mā·yim.
water ､

with it
יָרְד֥וּ

שְׁא֖וֹלָה

to hell

חַלְלֵי־

– חָ֑רֶב
ḥā·reḇ;
the sword –
､ וּזְרֹע֛וֹ

and [those] [who] [were] its [strong] arm ､
יָשְׁב֥וּ

בְצִלּ֖וֹ
ḇə·ṣil·lōw
בְּת֥וֹךְ

among the

of the trees in

Eden ؟
וְהוּרַדְתָּ֨

’eṯ-
with
עֲצֵי־
‘ă·ṣê-
the trees
עֵ֜דֶן
‘ê·ḏen
of Eden
אֶל־
’el-
to
– אֶ֣רֶץ

the earth –
תַּחְתִּ֗ית

the depths
