to the city !

דָּמִ֑ים

dā·mîm;

כֻּלָּ֗הּ

kul·lāh,

it [is] all

כַּ֤חַשׁ

ka·ḥaš

– פֶּ֙רֶק֙

pe·req

[and] robbery –

מְלֵאָ֔ה

mə·lê·’āh,

– לֹ֥א

lō

of never –

יָמִ֖ישׁ

yā·mîš

. טָֽרֶף׃

ṭā·rep̄.

ק֣וֹל

qō·wl

､ שׁ֔וֹט

šō·wṭ,

of a whip ､

וְק֖וֹל

wə·qō·wl

and the noise

רַ֣עַשׁ

ra·‘aš

､ אוֹפָ֑ן

’ō·w·p̄ān;

､ וְס֣וּס

wə·sūs

and of horses ､

דֹּהֵ֔ר

dō·hêr,

וּמֶרְכָּבָ֖ה

ū·mer·kā·ḇāh

and of chariots

. מְרַקֵּדָֽה׃

mə·raq·qê·ḏāh.

פָּרָ֣שׁ

pā·rāš

מַעֲלֶ֗ה

ma·‘ă·leh,

וְלַ֤הַב

wə·la·haḇ

חֶ֙רֶב֙

ḥe·reḇ

וּבְרַ֣ק

ū·ḇə·raq

– חֲנִ֔ית

ḥă·nîṯ,

וְרֹ֥ב

wə·rōḇ

and [There is] a multitude

､ חָלָ֖ל

ḥā·lāl

of slain ､

וְכֹ֣בֶד

wə·ḵō·ḇeḏ

and a great number

– פָּ֑גֶר

pā·ḡer;

of bodies –

וְאֵ֥ין

wə·’ên

and

קֵ֙צֶה֙

qê·ṣeh

– לַגְּוִיָּ֔ה

lag·gə·wî·yāh,

[יכשלו]

yiḵ·šə·lū

-

(וְכָשְׁל֖וּ)

wə·ḵā·šə·lū

– בִּגְוִיָּתָֽם׃

biḡ·wî·yā·ṯām.

over the corpses –

מֵרֹב֙

mê·rōḇ

because of the multitude

､ זְנוּנֵ֣י

zə·nū·nê

of harlotries ､

זוֹנָ֔ה

zō·w·nāh,

of the harlot

ט֥וֹבַת

ṭō·w·ḇaṯ

of the well favored

חֵ֖ן

ḥên

בַּעֲלַ֣ת

ba·‘ă·laṯ

､ כְּשָׁפִ֑ים

kə·šā·p̄îm;

of sorceries ､

הַמֹּכֶ֤רֶת

ham·mō·ḵe·reṯ

גּוֹיִם֙

gō·w·yim

בִּזְנוּנֶ֔יהָ

biz·nū·ne·hā,

through her harlotries

וּמִשְׁפָּח֖וֹת

ū·miš·pā·ḥō·wṯ

. בִּכְשָׁפֶֽיהָ׃

biḵ·šā·p̄e·hā.

through her sorceries .

הִנְנִ֣י

hin·nî

Behold I [am]

אֵלַ֗יִךְ

’ê·la·yiḵ,

נְאֻם֙

nə·’um

יְהוָ֣ה

Yah·weh

– צְבָא֔וֹת

ṣə·ḇā·’ō·wṯ,

of hosts –

וְגִלֵּיתִ֥י

wə·ḡil·lê·ṯî

and I will lift

שׁוּלַ֖יִךְ

šū·la·yiḵ

עַל־

‘al-

､ פָּנָ֑יִךְ

pā·nā·yiḵ;

וְהַרְאֵיתִ֤י

wə·har·’ê·ṯî

and I will show

גוֹיִם֙

ḡō·w·yim

､ מַעְרֵ֔ךְ

ma‘·rêḵ,

your nakedness ､

וּמַמְלָכ֖וֹת

ū·mam·lā·ḵō·wṯ

and the kingdoms

. קְלוֹנֵֽךְ׃

qə·lō·w·nêḵ.

וְהִשְׁלַכְתִּ֥י

wə·hiš·laḵ·tî

And I will cast

עָלַ֛יִךְ

‘ā·la·yiḵ

שִׁקֻּצִ֖ים

šiq·qu·ṣîm

abominable [filth]

､ וְנִבַּלְתִּ֑יךְ

wə·nib·bal·tîḵ;

and Make you vile ､

וְשַׂמְתִּ֖יךְ

wə·śam·tîḵ

. כְּרֹֽאִי׃

kə·rō·’î.

､ וְהָיָ֤ה

wə·hā·yāh

And it shall come to pass ､

כָל־

ḵāl

רֹאַ֙יִךְ֙

rō·’a·yiḵ

who look upon you

יִדּ֣וֹד

yid·dō·wḏ

will flee

מִמֵּ֔ךְ

mim·mêḵ,

､ וְאָמַר֙

wə·’ā·mar

and say ､

! שָׁדְּדָ֣ה

šād·də·ḏāh

is laid waste !

נִֽינְוֵ֔ה

nî·nə·wêh,

מִ֖י

mî

יָנ֣וּד

yā·nūḏ

לָ֑הּ

lāh;

מֵאַ֛יִן

mê·’a·yin

אֲבַקֵּ֥שׁ

’ă·ḇaq·qêš

מְנַחֲמִ֖ים

mə·na·ḥă·mîm

. לָֽךְ׃

lāḵ.

הֲתֵֽיטְבִי֙

hă·ṯê·ṭə·ḇî

מִנֹּ֣א

min·nō

אָמ֔וֹן

’ā·mō·wn,

הַיֹּֽשְׁבָה֙

hay·yō·šə·ḇāh

[That was] situated

､ בַּיְאֹרִ֔ים

bay·’ō·rîm,

by the River ､

מַ֖יִם

ma·yim

that had the waters

סָבִ֣יב

sā·ḇîḇ

לָ֑הּ

lāh;

אֲשֶׁר־

’ă·šer-

חֵ֣יל

ḥêl

､ יָ֔ם

yām,

the sea ､

מִיָּ֖ם

mî·yām

the sea

؟ חוֹמָתָֽהּ׃

ḥō·w·mā·ṯāh.

Whose wall [was] ؟

כּ֥וּשׁ

kūš

､ עָצְמָ֛ה

‘ā·ṣə·māh

[were] her strength ､

וּמִצְרַ֖יִם

ū·miṣ·ra·yim

וְאֵ֣ין

wə·’ên

and

– קֵ֑צֶה

qê·ṣeh;

[it was] boundless –

פּ֣וּט

pūṭ

וְלוּבִ֔ים

wə·lū·ḇîm,

הָי֖וּ

hā·yū

. בְּעֶזְרָתֵֽךְ׃

bə·‘ez·rā·ṯêḵ.

גַּם־

gam-

הִ֗יא

hî,

､ לַגֹּלָה֙

lag·gō·lāh

[carried away] captive ､

הָלְכָ֣ה

hā·lə·ḵāh

– בַשֶּׁ֔בִי

ḇaš·še·ḇî,

into captivity –

גַּ֧ם

gam

עֹלָלֶ֛יהָ

‘ō·lā·le·hā

Her young children

יְרֻטְּשׁ֖וּ

yə·ruṭ·ṭə·šū

were dashed to pieces

בְּרֹ֣אשׁ

bə·rōš

at the head

כָּל־

kāl-

– חוּצ֑וֹת

ḥū·ṣō·wṯ;

וְעַל־

wə·‘al-

､ נִכְבַּדֶּ֙יהָ֙

niḵ·bad·de·hā

her honorable men ､

יַדּ֣וּ

yad·dū

גוֹרָ֔ל

ḡō·w·rāl,

וְכָל־

wə·ḵāl

and all

גְּדוֹלֶ֖יהָ

gə·ḏō·w·le·hā

רֻתְּק֥וּ

rut·tə·qū

. בַזִּקִּֽים׃

ḇaz·ziq·qîm.

גַּם־

gam-

אַ֣תְּ

’at

– תִּשְׁכְּרִ֔י

tiš·kə·rî,

will be drunk –

תְּהִ֖י

tə·hî

You will be

､ נַֽעֲלָמָ֑ה

na·‘ă·lā·māh;

גַּם־

gam-

אַ֛תְּ

’at

תְּבַקְשִׁ֥י

tə·ḇaq·šî

will seek

מָע֖וֹז

mā·‘ō·wz

. מֵאוֹיֵֽב׃

mê·’ō·w·yêḇ.

from the enemy .

כָּ֨ל־

kāl-

מִבְצָרַ֔יִךְ

miḇ·ṣā·ra·yiḵ,

your strongholds [are]

תְּאֵנִ֖ים

tə·’ê·nîm

עִם־

‘im-

with

– בִּכּוּרִ֑ים

bik·kū·rîm;

ripened figs –

אִם־

’im-

if

､ יִנּ֕וֹעוּ

yin·nō·w·‘ū

they are shaken ､

וְנָפְל֖וּ

wə·nā·p̄ə·lū

עַל־

‘al-

פִּ֥י

pî

. אוֹכֵֽל׃

’ō·w·ḵêl.

of the eater .

､ הִנֵּ֨ה

hin·nêh

עַמֵּ֤ךְ

‘am·mêḵ

– נָשִׁים֙

nā·šîm

[are] women –

בְּקִרְבֵּ֔ךְ

bə·qir·bêḵ,

– לְאֹ֣יְבַ֔יִךְ

lə·’ō·yə·ḇa·yiḵ,

for your enemies –

פָּת֥וֹחַ

pā·ṯō·w·aḥ

נִפְתְּח֖וּ

nip̄·tə·ḥū

שַׁעֲרֵ֣י

ša·‘ă·rê

אַרְצֵ֑ךְ

’ar·ṣêḵ;

אָכְלָ֥ה

’ā·ḵə·lāh

אֵ֖שׁ

’êš

. בְּרִיחָֽיִך׃‪‬

bə·rî·ḥā·yiḵ.

the bars of your [gates] .

מֵ֤י

mê

､ מָצוֹר֙

mā·ṣō·wr

for the siege ､

שַֽׁאֲבִי־

ša·’ă·ḇî-

לָ֔ךְ

lāḵ,

חַזְּקִ֖י

ḥaz·zə·qî

! מִבְצָרָ֑יִךְ

miḇ·ṣā·rā·yiḵ;

your strongholds !

בֹּ֧אִי

bō·’î

go

､ בַטִּ֛יט

ḇaṭ·ṭîṭ

into the clay ､

וְרִמְסִ֥י

wə·rim·sî

､ בַחֹ֖מֶר

ḇa·ḥō·mer

the mortar ､

הַחֲזִ֥יקִי

ha·ḥă·zî·qî

. מַלְבֵּֽן׃

mal·bên.

the brick [kiln] .

שָׁ֚ם

m

תֹּאכְלֵ֣ךְ

tō·ḵə·lêḵ

will devour you

אֵ֔שׁ

’êš,

the fire

､ תַּכְרִיתֵ֣ךְ

taḵ·rî·ṯêḵ

will cut you off ､

חֶ֔רֶב

ḥe·reḇ,

תֹּאכְלֵ֖ךְ

tō·ḵə·lêḵ

it will eat you up

– כַּיָּ֑לֶק

kay·yā·leq;

like a locust –

הִתְכַּבֵּ֣ד

hiṯ·kab·bêḏ

Make yourself many

､ כַּיֶּ֔לֶק

kay·ye·leq,

like the locust ､

הִֽתְכַּבְּדִ֖י

hiṯ·kab·bə·ḏî

Make yourself many

. כָּאַרְבֶּֽה׃

kā·’ar·beh.

like the [swarming] locusts .

הִרְבֵּית֙

hir·bêṯ

You have multiplied

רֹֽכְלַ֔יִךְ

rō·ḵə·la·yiḵ,

מִכּוֹכְבֵ֖י

mik·kō·wḵ·ḇê

more than stars

– הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם

haš·šā·mā·yim;

of the heaven –

יֶ֥לֶק

ye·leq

､ פָּשַׁ֖ט

pā·šaṭ

. וַיָּעֹֽף׃

way·yā·‘ōp̄.

and flies away .

מִנְּזָרַ֙יִךְ֙

min·nə·zā·ra·yiḵ

Your commanders [are]

､ כָּֽאַרְבֶּ֔ה

kā·’ar·beh,

like [swarming] locusts ､

וְטַפְסְרַ֖יִךְ

wə·ṭap̄·sə·ra·yiḵ

and your generals

כְּג֣וֹב

kə·ḡō·wḇ

like grasshoppers

､ גֹּבָ֑י

gō·ḇāy;

הַֽחוֹנִ֤ים

ha·ḥō·w·nîm

בַּגְּדֵרוֹת֙

bag·gə·ḏê·rō·wṯ

in the hedges

､ בְּי֣וֹם

bə·yō·wm

on a day ､

קָרָ֔ה

qā·rāh,

שֶׁ֤מֶשׁ

še·meš

the sun

זָֽרְחָה֙

zā·rə·ḥāh

､ וְנוֹדַ֔ד

wə·nō·w·ḏaḏ,

and they flee away ､

וְלֹֽא־

wə·lō-

and not

נוֹדַ֥ע

nō·w·ḏa‘

מְקוֹמ֖וֹ

mə·qō·w·mōw

. אַיָּֽם׃

’ay·yām.

where they [are] .

､ נָמ֤וּ

nā·mū

רֹעֶ֙יךָ֙

rō·‘e·ḵā

מֶ֣לֶךְ

me·leḵ

– אַשּׁ֔וּר

’aš·šūr,

of Assyria –

יִשְׁכְּנ֖וּ

yiš·kə·nū

rest [in the dust]

אַדִּירֶ֑יךָ

’ad·dî·re·ḵā;

נָפֹ֧שׁוּ

nā·p̄ō·šū

עַמְּךָ֛

‘am·mə·ḵā

עַל־

‘al-

on

､ הֶהָרִ֖ים

he·hā·rîm

the mountains ､

וְאֵ֥ין

wə·’ên

and no one

. מְקַבֵּֽץ׃

mə·qab·bêṣ.

אֵין־

’ên-

כֵּהָ֣ה

kê·hāh

– לְשִׁבְרֶ֔ךָ

lə·šiḇ·re·ḵā,

Your injury [has] –

. נַחְלָ֖ה

naḥ·lāh

מַכָּתֶ֑ךָ

mak·kā·ṯe·ḵā;

כֹּ֣ל ׀

kōl

שֹׁמְעֵ֣י

šō·mə·‘ê

שִׁמְעֲךָ֗

šim·‘ă·ḵā,

תָּ֤קְעוּ

tā·qə·‘ū

will clap

כַף֙

ḵap̄

עָלֶ֔יךָ

‘ā·le·ḵā,

כִּ֗י

kî,

עַל־

‘al-

מִ֛י

mî

לֹֽא־

lō-

not

עָבְרָ֥ה

‘ā·ḇə·rāh

רָעָתְךָ֖

rā·‘ā·ṯə·ḵā

your wickedness

؟ תָּמִֽיד׃

tā·mîḏ.
