'Name of the Lord' in the Bible

To Seth, to him also a son was born; and he called his name Enosh. Then men began to call upon the name of the Lord.

Then he proceeded from there to the mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east; and there he built an altar to the Lord and called upon the name of the Lord.

The people were still sacrificing on the high places, because there was no house built for the name of the Lord until those days.

“You know that David my father was unable to build a house for the name of the Lord his God because of the wars which surrounded him, until the Lord put them under the soles of his feet.

Behold, I intend to build a house for the name of the Lord my God, as the Lord spoke to David my father, saying, ‘Your son, whom I will set on your throne in your place, he will build the house for My name.’

Now it was in the heart of my father David to build a house for the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.

Now the Lord has fulfilled His word which He spoke; for I have risen in place of my father David and sit on the throne of Israel, as the Lord promised, and have built the house for the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.

So David went up at the word of Gad, which he spoke in the name of the Lord.

David said to Solomon, “My son, I had intended to build a house to the name of the Lord my God.

Now set your heart and your soul to seek the Lord your God; arise, therefore, and build the sanctuary of the Lord God, so that you may bring the ark of the covenant of the Lord and the holy vessels of God into the house that is to be built for the name of the Lord.”

Now Solomon decided to build a house for the name of the Lord and a royal palace for himself.

Behold, I am about to build a house for the name of the Lord my God, dedicating it to Him, to burn fragrant incense before Him and to set out the showbread continually, and to offer burnt offerings morning and evening, on sabbaths and on new moons and on the appointed feasts of the Lord our God, this being required forever in Israel.

Now it was in the heart of my father David to build a house for the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.

Now the Lord has fulfilled His word which He spoke; for I have risen in the place of my father David and sit on the throne of Israel, as the Lord promised, and have built the house for the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.

Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh even his prayer to his God, and the words of the seers who spoke to him in the name of the Lord God of Israel, behold, they are among the records of the kings of Israel.

I will give thanks to the Lord according to His righteousnessAnd will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High.

So the nations will fear the name of the LordAnd all the kings of the earth Your glory.

That men may tell of the name of the Lord in ZionAnd His praise in Jerusalem,

For the name of the Lord is not to be mentioned.”

Though all the peoples walkEach in the name of his god,As for us, we will walkIn the name of the Lord our God forever and ever.

And He will arise and shepherd His flockIn the strength of the Lord,In the majesty of the name of the Lord His God.And they will remain,Because at that time He will be greatTo the ends of the earth.

“For then I will give to the peoples purified lips,That all of them may call on the name of the Lord,To serve Him shoulder to shoulder.

The crowds going ahead of Him, and those who followed, were shouting,“Hosanna to the Son of David;Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord;Hosanna in the highest!”

For I say to you, from now on you will not see Me until you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’”

Those who went in front and those who followed were shouting:“Hosanna!Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord;

Behold, your house is left to you desolate; and I say to you, you will not see Me until the time comes when you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’”

shouting:“Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord;Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”

took the branches of the palm trees and went out to meet Him, and began to shout, “Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel.”

For He had not yet fallen upon any of them; they had simply been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

And he was with them, moving about freely in Jerusalem, speaking out boldly in the name of the Lord.

When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

But also some of the Jewish exorcists, who went from place to place, attempted to name over those who had the evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, “I adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preaches.”

This became known to all, both Jews and Greeks, who lived in Ephesus; and fear fell upon them all and the name of the Lord Jesus was being magnified.
