Matthew 22:41-46 - David's Son And Lord

Matthew 22:41-46

41 While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, 42 "What do you think about the Christ? Whose son is he?" They said to him, "The son of David."

43 He said to them, "How is it then that David, inspired by the Spirit, calls him 'Lord', saying,

44 'The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit at my right hand, till I put your enemies under your feet"'?

45 If David then calls him 'Lord,' how is he his son?" 46 And no one was able to answer him a word, nor from that day did any one dare to ask him any more questions.

Mark 12:35-37

35 And Jesus said, while he taught in the temple, "How is it that the scribes say that the Christ is the Son of David? 36 David himself, speaking by the Holy Spirit, declared: 'The Lord said to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand till I put your enemies under your feet."'

37 Therefore David himself calls him 'Lord'; how is he then his son?" And the common people heard him gladly.

Luke 20:41-44

41 And he said to them, "How can they say that the Christ is the Son of David? 42 For David himself says in the Book of Psalms, 'The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit at my right hand, 43 till I make your enemies a footstool for your feet."'

44 David therefore calls him 'Lord,' and how is he his son?"
