John 5:16-23 - Honoring The Father And The Son

¹⁶ And for this did the Jews persecute Jesus, and endeavoured to put Him to death; because He had done these things on the sabbath-day. ¹⁷ But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh without intermission, and so do I. ¹⁸ For this therefore the Jews sought the more to kill Him, because He had not only broken the sabbath, but had also called God his own Father, making Himself equal with God.

¹⁹ Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Verily, verily I say unto you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He seeth the Father do: for whatsoever He doth, these also the Son doth in like manner. ²⁰ For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth Him all things, which He Himself doth: and He will shew Him greater than these, that ye may wonder. ²¹ For as the Father raiseth up the dead and giveth life: even so the Son maketh alive whom He pleaseth. ²² For neither doth the Father judge any one, but hath committed all judgement to the Son; ²³ that all men may honour the Son, even as they honour the Father: he, that honoureth not the Son, honoureth not the Father that sent Him.
