John 12:1-8 - Jesus Is Anointed At Bethany
1 Now six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany where Lazarus lived, whom He had raised from the dead. 2 So they gave a dinner there in honor of Jesus, and Martha was waiting on them, but Lazarus was one of the guests with Jesus. 3 Then Mary took a pound of expensive perfume, made of the purest oil, and poured it on Jesus' feet, and wiped them with her hair; and the whole house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.
4 But Judas Iscariot, one of His disciples, who was going to betray Him, said, 5 "Why was this perfume not sold for sixty dollars and the money given to the poor?" 6 He said this, not because he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief and as the carrier of the purse for the Twelve he was in the habit of taking what was put into it.
7 Then Jesus said, "Let her alone; let her keep it for the day of my funeral, 8 for you always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me."
