Matthew 27:57-61 - Jesus Is Buried

Matthew 27:57-61

57 And at evening there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who was himself also a disciple of Jesus. 58 This man went to Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate ordered it to be given him. 59 And Joseph took the body, and wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, 60 and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock, and having rolled a great stone to the door of the tomb, went away. 61 And Mary the Magdalene was there, and the other Mary, sitting over against the sepulchre.

Mark 15:42-47

42 And evening having now come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath, 43 Joseph of Arimathaea, an honorable councilor, who was himself waiting for the kingdom of God, came, and boldly went in to Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus. 44 And Pilate wondered that he was already dead; and calling to him the centurion, he asked him whether he had been long dead. 45 And having been informed by the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph. 46 And having bought fine linen, he took him down, and wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a tomb which was hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone to the door of the tomb. 47 And Mary the Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses saw where he was laid.

Luke 23:50-56

50 And lo! a man named Joseph, of Arimathaea, a city of the Jews, being a councilor, and a good and righteous man, 51 who was not consenting to their purpose and deed, and was waiting for the kingdom of God, 52 this man went to Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus. 53 And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a tomb that was hewn out of the rock; wherein no one had yet lain. 54 And it was the day of preparation, and the sabbath was now coming on. 55 And the women also, who had come with him from Galilee, followed after, and saw the tomb, and how his body was laid. 56 And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and on the sabbath they rested, according to the commandment.

John 19:38-42

38 And after this, Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but concealing it for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus; and Pilate gave him leave. They came therefore and took him away. 39 Nicodemus also, he who at the first went to him by night, came bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred pounds weight. 40 Then they took the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen cloths with the spices, as is the manner of the Jews in preparing for burial. 41 Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one had ever been laid. 42 There then, on account of the Jews preparationday, they laid Jesus; for the tomb was at hand.
