Matthew 26:31-35 - Jesus Predicts Peter's Denial
31 Then said Jesus unto them, "All ye shall be offended by me this night. For it is written, 'I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.'
32 But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee."
33 Peter answered, and said unto him, "Though all men should be offended by thee, yet would I never be offended."
34 Jesus said unto him, "Verily I say unto thee, that this same night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice."
35 Peter said unto him, "If I should die with thee, yet would I not deny thee." Likewise also said all the disciples.
27 And Jesus said unto them, "All ye shall be offended through me this night. For it is written, 'I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.'
28 But after that I am risen again I will go into Galilee before you."
29 Peter said unto him, "And though all men should be offended, yet would not I."
30 And Jesus said unto him, "Verily I say unto thee this day even in this night, before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice."
31 And he spake bolder, "No, if I should die with thee, I will not deny thee." Likewise also said they all.
31 And the Lord said, "Simon, Simon, behold Satan hath desired you, to sift you, as it were wheat: 32 But I have prayed for thee that thy faith fail not. And when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren."
33 And he said unto him, "Lord, I am ready to go with thee into prison, and to death."
34 And he said, "I tell thee Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, till thou have thrice denied that thou knowest me."
31 When he was gone out, Jesus said, "Now is the son of man glorified. And God is glorified by him. 32 If God be glorified by him, God shall also glorify him in himself: and shall straightway glorify him.
33 Dear children, yet a little while am I with you. Ye shall seek me, and as I said unto the Jews, 'Whither I go, thither can ye not come.' Also to you say I now.
34 A new commandment give I unto you: that ye love together: as I have loved you, that even so ye love one another. 35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye shall have love one to another."
36 Simon Peter said unto him, "Lord whither goest thou?" Jesus answered him, "Whither I go thou canst not follow me now, but thou shalt follow me afterwards."
37 Peter said unto him, "Lord why cannot I follow thee now? I will give my life for thy sake."
38 Jesus answered him, "Wilt thou give thy life for my sake? Verily, verily I say unto thee, the cock shall not crow, till thou have denied me thrice."
