Matthew 12:46-50 - Jesus' Mother And Brothers

⁴⁶ While he was still speaking to the crowds, his mother and brothers were standing outside, asking to speak to him. ⁴⁷ Someone told him this, and Jesus replied:

⁴⁸ "Who is my mother? and who are my brothers?" ⁴⁹ Then, stretching out his hands towards his disciples, he said: "Here are my mother and my brothers! ⁵⁰ For any one who does the will of my Father who is in Heaven is my brother and sister and mother."

³¹ And his mother and his brothers came, and stood outside, and sent to ask him to come to them. ³² There was a crowd sitting round Jesus, and some of them said to him: "Look, your mother and your brothers are outside, asking for you."

³³ "Who is my mother? and my brothers?" was his reply. ³⁴ Then he looked around on the people sitting in a circle round him, and said: "Here are my mother and my brothers! ³⁵ Whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother."

¹⁹ Presently Jesus' mother and brothers came where he was, but they were not able to join him on account of the crowd. ²⁰ So word was brought to him--'Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you.'

²¹ His reply, spoken to them all, was: "My mother and my brothers are those who listen to God's teaching and do what it bids."
