2 Kings 15:17-22 - Menahem Reigns In Israel
17 In the thirty-ninth year of Azariah king of Judah Menahem son of Gadi became king over Israel. He ruled in Samaria for ten years. 18 He did evil in the eyes of Jehovah. He did not keep himself from the sin of Jeroboam son of Nebat. He causes Israel to sin too.
19 Pul king of Assyria came against the land. Menahem gave Pul a thousand talents of silver to let him keep the kingdom. 20 Menahem extracted the money from men of wealth in Israel. Every man gave fifty silver shekels to give to the king of Assyria. The king of Assyria turned back and did not stop in the land.
21 The rest of the acts of Menahem are recorded in the Book of the History of the Kings of Israel. 22 Menahem slept with his fathers. Pekahiah his son became king in his place.
