Acts 18:12-17 - Paul Accused Before The Proconsul Gallio
12 And when Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews rose up with one accord against Paul, and brought him before the judgmentseat, 13 saying, This man persuadeth people to worship God contrary to the law.
14 And as Paul was about to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews, If it were some act of injustice or wicked misdeed, O Jews, with reason I should bear with you; 15 but if it be questions of doctrine, and names, and your law, look to it yourselves; I will not be a judge of these matters. 16 And he drove them from the judgmentseat. 17 But they all laid hold of Sosthenes, the ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgmentseat; and Gallio cared for none of these things.
