Acts 18:12-17 - Paul Accused Before The Proconsul Gallio

¹² And when Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews rose up with one accord against Paul, and brought him before the judgmentseat, ¹³ saying, This man persuadeth people to worship God contrary to the law.

¹⁴ And as Paul was about to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews, If it were some act of injustice or wicked misdeed, O Jews, with reason I should bear with you; ¹⁵ but if it be questions of doctrine, and names, and your law, look to it yourselves; I will not be a judge of these matters. ¹⁶ And he drove them from the judgmentseat. ¹⁷ But they all laid hold of Sosthenes, the ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgmentseat; and Gallio cared for none of these things.
