Matthew 26:69-75 - Peter Denies Jesus Three Times

Matthew 26:69-75

69 Now Peter sat outside in the patio; and a damsel came unto him, saying, Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee.

70 But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest.

71 And when he was gone out into the porch, another maid saw him and said unto those that were there, This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth.

72 And again he denied with an oath, I do not know the man.

73 And after a while those that stood by came unto him and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of them, for thy speech makes thee manifest.

74 Then he began to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately a cock crew. 75 And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, who said unto him, Before the cock crows, thou shalt deny me three times. And he went out and wept bitterly.

Mark 14:66-72

66 And as Peter was beneath in the palace, there came one of the maids of the high priest; 67 and when she saw Peter warming himself, looking upon him, said, And thou also wast with Jesus of Nazareth.

68 But he denied, saying, I know him not, neither understand I what thou sayest. And he went out into the porch; and the cock crew.

69 And the maid seeing him again began to say to those that stood by, This is one of them.

70 But he denied it again. And a little after, those that stood by said again to Peter, Surely thou art one of them, for thou art a Galilaean, and thy speech agrees unto it.

71 And he began to curse and to swear, saying, I do not know this man of whom ye speak.

72 And the second time the cock crew. And Peter called to mind the words that Jesus had said unto him, Before the cock crows twice, thou shalt deny me three times. And thinking on this, he wept.
