Matthew 16:13-20 - Peter's Confession At Caesarea Philippi

¹³ When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?

¹⁴ And they said, Some say that you are John the Baptist: some, Elijah; and others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.

¹⁵ He said unto them, But whom say you that I am?

¹⁶ And Simon Peter answered, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.

¹⁷ And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed are you, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood has not revealed it unto you, but my Father who is in heaven. ¹⁸ And I say also unto you, That you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hades shall not prevail against it. ¹⁹ And I will give unto you the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

²⁰ Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.

²⁷ And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Caesarea Philippi: and on the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Who do men say that I am?

²⁸ And they answered, John the Baptist: but some say, Elijah; and others, One of the prophets.

²⁹ And he said unto them, But who say you that I am? And Peter answered and said unto him, You are the Christ.

³⁰ And he charged them that they should tell no man of him.
