Luke 9:18-20 - Peter's Confession

Luke 9:18-20

18 And it came to pass, as he had been praying in retirement, his disciples were with him, and he asked them, Who do the multitudes say that I am?

19 And they answering said, John the Baptist; but some Elias; and others, that one of the old prophets is risen again.

20 And he said to them, But who do ye say that I am? Then Peter answering said, The Messiah of God.

John 6:66-71

66 From that [discourse] many of his disciples went away back, and no more followed him about. 67 Then said Jesus to the twelve, Will ye also go away?

68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, unto whom shall we go from thee? thou hast the words of eternal life. 69 And we have believed and known that thou art the Messiah, the Son of the living God.

70 Jesus answered them, Have I not chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil? 71 Now he spake of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon: for this man was ready to betray him, though he was one of the twelve.
